We went last week from Wed to Monday 4/14, staying at the Boardwalk Villas, my wife and I with 2 daughters 13 & 8. It was my own personal goal to not eat any hamburgers or chicken sandwiches. (I tried anyway!) First night we arrived later then usual, approx 7:30, unpacked and went to ESPN.

It was packed, had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We ordered the nachos to share, they were excellent. I had the Club Wrap, while everyone else had burgers. This sandwich was absolutely killer. This wrap captured the taste that waifts through the air all over Disney (must be the bacon!!) Service and drinks were all good.

In keeping with out attempt to always do something different we tried the Garden Grill in EPCOT. Never again will this place take my money. The food was high school cafeteria quality at best. The plate of fried cat fish (fishy), london broil (tough with a funny after taste), and tasteless chicken. The best part of the plate was the stuffing and the mashed potatoes. The price did not meet the quality I expected ($100+- with tip)

The next night we ate at Spoodles. Again, trying to eat different we went with an all Tapas dinner. My wife had the Lamb skewers, Soup of the day, and the roasted peppers with fresh mozzarella. All EXCELLENT. I had the Lamb skewers, the hot Chile Oil Shrimp, and the roasted garlic and 4 cheese flat bread. All EXCELLENT. The kids ate most of the lamb thinking it was steak!
The kids had the PBJ's. Total bill with 4 Grey Gooses & tip was only $95.00. Really good service from Carrie.

At a quick lunch at ESPN I got the Roasted Portabello sandwich. Very good and highly recommended.

Dinner at Nine Dragons in EPCOT was a last minute decision. We had our one and only PS (all of these reviews are from walk up dining) at Le Cellier for 8:30, but the kids were starving. We walked in at 9 Dragons and were promptly seated in an almost empty dining room at 7:30. (Fear of SARS maybe) this was our first time dining here, but it won't be our last. The prices, service, servings, and quality of food were all above my expectations. We shared the Dinner for Two ($42.50), which included wonton soup, two spring rools, 2 dim sum (like a meat ball wrapped in noodle), entrees of kung pow chicken and honey sesame chicken (the better of the two), the portions were very large. . One daughter had childrens sweet and sour chicken and the other had only rice and wonton soup. We had a beer each and the kids had some frozen drinks, total with tip $105.00. Our meal included ice cream too.

Since dinner was so good at Spoodles we went back. Same good Food but absolutely horrible server. We had a 15 minute wait, so we walked down to ESPN and got some drinks to go. My wife had a beer and I had a vodka & club soda. Once seated the waitress came over and didn't offer to get me a drink and I think it was because my cocktail looked like a soda. So when she came back with my wifes beer I odered my drink and told her that I was sorry to run her but you didn't even ask me, you were off and running. (now these drinks are 8 bucks each so I am only padding the tab and her tip) Anyway, she made sure to keep coming by and telling me that my drink would be right up, after 10 minutes and the first appetizers to arrive it finally arrived, and not the way I ordered it, but I had waited long enough. Any way, in keeping with my different theme I had the stuffed spanish peppers and my wife had the fettucine alfredo. The fettucine alf was excellent (how can you mess that up!) The stuffed peppers were good but not stellar. Dinner bill was high at $95.00 before tip. To show my displeasure I tipped an exact 15%, my only available method of revenge since I was on vacation.

The next worse dining experience was at Sci Fi. Every year I tell my wife and kids that they are not stealing my money again. But every year we end up going. The menu has changed slightly but the service is not fun anymore. Our server was terrible. She made us wait forever for her to arrive, and then wanted our entire order at once. She brought our beers and the kids sodas WITH our onion rings that were ordered as an appetizer. maybe it's me, but it seems like they DON'T want to serve drinks. It wasn't busy. I think the beers should have been delivered, then the appetizer, and maybe we would have ordered another beer before luch arrived, and maybe one more after that. Since lunch arrived before we finished the onion rings or the first beer, the timing was all screwed up. We all had hamburgers which is their best menu item in my opinion. This was the ony hamburger I ate the entire trip! Another 15% tip for a server barely going through the motions and not doing her job properly.

Sorry for this being so long, but I love to share! I owe a lot of where I eat to this board, so maybe this will help someone else make a wise dining decision!

Thanks for posting! You're making me nervous about Garden Grill. We ate there 8 or 9 years ago and really don't remember much. I don't know if we'll keep this one on the plan. It is our only character meal scheduled.

We ate at Garden Grill about 2 yrs ago and had a good dinner. I haven't heard many good reviews since then.

Bob, very informative reviews... thanks.

GG was not our fav either. We did lunch there one year ago, we also did not like the catfish but thought the chicken, mash pot, suffing and salad were fine. I would describe our meal as ok but wouldn't go back, too many other places to try.

Same with Sci-fi, only DS liked his meal... grilled cheese! The atmosphere is way cool so too bad they can't improve service and food quality.

A place that surprised us in a good way was Marrakesh. We had a wonderful server and good food.

:D

Thanks for your reviews!

I have had good and bad service at Spoodles - the food is good, but service makes a great impression.

I may want to try a casual meal at ESPN as well!

Thanks for the reviews!

Thanks for your reviews. I am sorry to hear about your bad experiences. Especially, Garden Grill. I was hoping to try it next time. But oh well. I am glad to hear that about Sci Fi. I won't bother.

Thanks for the reviews, that's what makes these boards so great. I'm glad you liked Spoodles, even with the lousy service you got on your second visit. Spoodles is one of our favorite restaurants at WDW, we always enjoy our food and atmosphere. We also enjoyed breakfast there for the first time on our last visit.

Great reviews!
I'm a Spoodles addict. I love the seared salmon!
I also frequent the ESPN club as we normally travel during the NHL playoffs (Go Stars!) and if you haven't tried it, you need to order the hockey puck. Delicious!

Thanks for your reviews. I think it's time to try Spoodles again, we ate there in 1999 and enjoyed it. We've never been tempted to try the Sci Fi place, and still aren't! Diana

Great reviews! The Club Wrap is almost my favorite thing to eat at ESPN Club, we think that place is so fun. Especially in the afternoons when it's less crowded.

Thanks so much for the great reviews!

Do they still have the sunflower seed bread and the ranch dressing on the salad? Those were my two favorites at the GG. Also, I have to say that I had the COLDEST draft beer ever there...so cold it gave my an ice cream headache!!! I also think they have the best Chip'n'Dale there, very animated and funny. I agree that the food is not all that great, but the rest of my family loves it.
