Much as I agree that the change was a real disappointment (and not a good move on SW's part, IMHO), I still think even the limited version of QQ is a good perk. Not as good as before, but still worthwhile (particularly when in combination with some of the other onsite perks like dining discounts, early entry on select dates, free transportation to the parks, etc.).
Honestly, Universal is a whole different ballgame so you really can't compare the two (though I can see how they DO get compared in situations like this). Universal has far more rides vs. SeaWorld, so the change from unlimited Express to the limited version would hit a guest much, much harder than at SW. Plus, you are paying FAR more to stay onsite at Universal vs SeaWorld (the Universal properties are much more deluxe than most of the SW onsite options), so consumers should definitely get much more in the way of perks considering the extra money they are shelling out.
We thought the Residence Inn was an excellent value, particularly when we had a full suite with a separate bedroom, a complimentary buffet breakfast daily, free parking, free internet, and all the SW onsite perks. I would still have considered it a good value if the Quick Queue was limited. Our Christmas week stay was only $1330, and that included our accommodations, park tickets, all day dining for one day each at SeaWorld and Aquatica, daily breakfast, and all taxes (we had a family of three "adults".....two adults and a teenager). The SW onsite perks were all gravy from there.
