So, I'm trying to decide what to wear for the nights that we're going to see broadway shows. I have some ideas but I don't really know the dress attire.

So, what's appropriate? Jeans? Skirts? Dresses?

Thanks a bunch!

It's not exactly casual, yet not over the top dressy.
I'd say go with a nice skirt, and you'll be fine.

I've never been to a broadway show but I think a skirt with a nice top would apporiate :)

Have fun.

I normally wear a skirt of some sort. Although, I have worn jeans to shows before, especially in the winter. It gets cold walking around in NYC in winter in a skirt.

Ok, so I have this skirt. It's pretty casual. It also may be a bit short.

But I also have this too. I just bought it the other day. I would wear it with a 3/4 white cardigan sweater. All of the shows we're seeing are in the evening so it would be more appropriate.

I like the red skirt.

I've never been to an actual broadway show, but I've been to an off broadway.

To the off broadway I wore jean capris and a nice shirt/jacket thing. I felt terribly underdressed the whole time. There were some people who were wearing dresses that I would have worn to a dance. I mean, they had some poofy skirts.

I'd say wear a nice skirt/blouse or nice pants/blouse and you'll be fine.

OT, but what shows are you seeing?

Number two would be much more suited for a Broadway show. A good plain white cotton tee, that red skirt, and some sandals like the ones in the picture and you should be good to go. (I wore something similar to Hairspray in November)

Spring Awakening, Mary Poppins, and one other. I can't remember the name. It was also a movie. It's on the tip of my tongue.:headache:

It's okay, don't stress about something little like that.

Mary Poppins should be good, I've never head of Spring Awakening, but that should be good, too.

I want to go to New York really badly.

OMGEE!! I am like an aspiring fashion designer! I will make you an outfit that would probally go good IMO though. What time of the year are you going?

Nice skirt.
~~
Broadways shows aren't that dressy, but putting on a skirt to one would be nice.

I really like the 2nd one. =]

i have been to a couple of broadway shows and you see people there wearing anything from sweats to a prom dress . i would wear a nice skirt like the red one with heels and a cute top make sure your comfortable because the shows can be really long . make sure to get up and walk around during the admission it really helps in the second half. i hope you have a wonderfull time new york is awesome!!!!
