Our 5-month-old kitten has been sneezing for a few days. She's still playing with our other cat and she's been eating and drinking fine. We'd like to get some L-Lysine for her to see if that helps stop the sneezing (since there doesn't seem to be anything else wrong with her - she doesn't even sound stuffy).

My question is - will it hurt our other cat to have the L-Lysine in their food? They have separate bowls, but they tend to eat out of each others bowls pretty regularly. Just wanted to see if we need to feed them separately for a couple of days.

Thanks!!

No--it won't hurt at all. I have a cat that has Lysine pretty much all the time in her food and the other one always finishes what she doesn't eat. It just helps boost the immune system..nothing wrong with that.

No- it's fine. I would check with a vet (disclaimer LOL) to make sure, but I also have one cat who takes Lysine out of three and my vet told me not to worry about it. In fact, it is probably better- it's good for them. I do use an oral injector sometimes (crush the lysine, mix with water, wrangle cat, inject orally) to give it directly to the cat in need if his herp eye gets cloudy.

My cat has Herpes in her eye too! Born with it..poor thing. There isn't ANYTHING we haven't tried! MY Vet also told me nooo worries at all if the other cat ingests the Lysine..and in fact as I mentioned...it's likely a good boost to her system too!
