I'm thinking Kids Stay Free, but I've never really figured out the DP. We're talking 2 adults and 3 kids under the age of 9 staying at POR. They are booked with free dining, I saw the Kids Stay for Free, but don't want to tell them about it if Free DP is better.

IMO, since your kids are under 10, Kids stay free might be better. If they were 10 or over, I would probably go free dining.

But unfortunately the only way to find out is to take the time to crunch the numbers. May take a couple of hours to review the menus and prices, but if your family is like ours (light cold breakfast in the room) one light meal and one bigger meal per day, you may find it better to go kids stay free. The other thing to consider with free dining is you feel obligated to eat all the meals and that could mean about 2.5 hours per day not touring the parks.

I think the above poster made some good points here. It really depends on what you are planning on doing during vacation time. If you are shooting for a sit down every night and know your kids will eat well, then the DP might be for you. Otherwise, it might be cheaper to go with Kids Stay Free. You'll really have sit down and crunch the numbers depending on how much your kids like to eat.

This trip isn't actually for me. It's my SIL's sister's family. They are relative Disney newbies and I'm actually trying not to get involved too much because the sister is a bit of a nut, more than a bit actually, but I thought I'd just pass along the Kids Stay Free info to my SIL if it would be a better deal for them. I do know though that they really want the DP.

I guess it depends how long they are going for.

A 7 day base ticket for 3 kids would be about $715 - that's how much they would save w/ kids free.

The DDP per day for 2 A and 2 C would be about $128 they are saving with free dining per day.

How long are they going for? A shorter stay, the kids free would probably work out cheaper even once they add the DDP. A longer stay, the free dining would be a better savings.

We are booked at WL (3A, 1C...dd will be 10yo so is now an "adult") w/ free dining and had my TA check for us (again only w/ one child, not three) and Free Dining is still better than the stay/play free.

If the stay/play deal included the "dine" as well like it did last year, it might be a better deal, but that is only for the QS plan and they would have to upgrade to the regular plan.

Room only discounts are coming out tomorrow...that may or may not be a better deal, but w/ five people, I think free dining may win out!
