I know if I book a DVC resort using banked points and cancel it goes back in as reservation points. But, is it easy to move banked points around to a different resort within the same vacation week, if I change my mind? Thank you
You have to cancel the first reservation to use the banked points in another reservation. And by time you go to make the second reservation the dates might be no longer available on the new room. So you would end up with no room. It can be gamble depending on the time of year you are trying to switch.

I procrastinated because I'm trying to plan two long vacations at once, the first one non disney. So, I'm outside of both the 11 mos and 7mos booking windows. the hotel I want to stay at has only limited ability. So, trying something new but if the original hotel opens closer or I decide to try the new Wilderness Lodge villas when we can book there, I wanted to see what it was like to change.
Do you have extra current year points that would cover the new reservation? You could book it with those points, then cancel the old reservation and then call MS and ask them to reallocate your banked points into the new reservation. But please don't borrow points for that purpose, because that would be a permanent move to the this year for those points.
Good luck with getting a reservation at Copper Creek. I think you and many others will be trying to switch to CCV.

MS would be able to reallocate any banked points that were freed up from a reservation to a different reservation that was in the same UY. If the reservation were made during the home resort priority period and the points were not from that home resort then technically there would need to be availability during the 7 month period for them to do this switch, but if both reservations were done during the 7 month window there would be no issues.
Technically cancelling a reservation using banked points just puts them back into the UY as banked points unless the cancellation is done 30 days or less prior to check in. At that point they would go into holding and could only be used for stays starting 60 days or less from the date you book. "Reservation points" are the term for points that were traded outside of DVC and cannot be used for DVC stays.

You are confused. If you are eligible and book a non-DVC stay (like DCL or Disney hotel) and cancel, then those points become reservation points. They cannot be used for a DVC stay.
If you book at DVC stay and cancel it 1-30 days out, the points become Holding points and can only be used to book a stay 60 days out. Plus they expire at the end of the UY (they cannot be banked).
If you use banked points to book a DVC stay and cancel, the points go back into your account to be used for a different stay. If you have other reservations during the same UY, the banked points are the same resort as those reservations, you can ask MS to substitute the banked points. If they are not the same resort and you booked that reservation during the home booking period (7-11 months out), you cannot substitute them because that would defeat the purpose of home resort advantage. Plus if you only drop days at the beginning or at the end of the reservation, you can ask MS to make sure the banked points are used first.
And then there is banking the left over points. Which would need to be done in the first eight months of the UY. So if you cancel the reservation, during the last four months of your UY, you would need to use those points before the end of the UY.
