quick help needed re attire

Hi friends, I'm headed out to watch a pro basketball game soon and don't know what to wear! Is jeans with a t-shirt and sneakers appropriate? They are very expensive seats if that matters but not a box.

DH says I can wear jeans but it should be a 'nice' top. I asked him if he meant a blouse like for work and he wasn't sure. Men?!

I can also do skinny jeans with boots and a tee.

I do not like the look of tennis shoes and jeans. By tennis shoes I mean actual tennis shoes not this type of casual tennis-shoe type shoe.

Are you in a box or just VIP seats. If it is a box, I'd go with a dressier version of casual--jeans and a nice "blouse-like" top. (kind of like going out for a night on the town). Nicer shoes would not be unwarranted.

If just the seats, then a nice top would suffice, sneakers are fine.

It isn't a job interview, so you should be fine.

I had to laugh when I read your post. After I read it I thought "this person must be from Michigan."

I was born and raised in Michigan but have lived in the Northeast and now in the South. People in Michigan dress very casually for the most part. I thought everyone wore sweatshirts, jeans and sneakers when I lived there.

I agree about the jeans and sneaker thing. I always wear shoes (ankle boots, heels, flats, etc).

A "nicer" T-shirt (like one with an embellishment), nice dark jeans and boots would be fine. If the seats are good, you may be on television!

Embellished! I could NOT think of that word! THanks. Yes, an embelished t-shirt and jeans and boots or dressy-ish ballet flats.

Dress like you are going out for dinner or drinks but with jeans. I'd wear jeans (jeggings?), boots and a 'going out' top. Not a work blouse and not really a clubbing outfit but yeah, embellished shirt. lol

With the jeans I'd wear cool boots and a sweater which is exactly what i am wearing to my son's BB playoff game tonight. Dressy casual

Hmmmmm....does that mean all the states I have been to that people had on jeans with sneakers are from Michigan? We do get around now don't we! I mean that as a joke so please don't take it any other way, sometimes hard to tell on a discussion forum.

Ummm I have never been to Michigan and I wear jeans, tennis shoes, sweatshirts daily in winter. In summer it's jeans and flip flops but still, what's the problem with jeans and tennis shoes?
OP when I go to sporting events (usually baseball games, but I've been to a few football games too) I wear jeans, a tee or tank top and tennis shoes.....
