We have some DVC points to use and will be in SoCal in March for some college visits for my 17 yo son and my wife and my 14 son will be along We have some downtime planned in the middle of the visit and will be at the VGC (villlas at the Grand Californian) for 2 nights before we leave...we may arrive in Anaheim in the afternoon on a Tues and leave Thurs am...so we have all of Wed for DL/DCA for sure...
so how should we do this? We have been to WDW many many times, not to DLR yet.
Should we just relax on Tues at the hotel and just go for a one day PH ticket? or spring for 2 day PH tkts for Tues afternoon and evening and Wed?
Should we try for FP for WOC on Tues afternoon for the late show if there will be one during this mid week Spring Break time? or will they all be gone? Should we go for picnic or restaurant rez for WOC that night? How early should I do this if so...after WOC on Tues would we then see what we can get done at DL after that?-- it was open til midnight last March. Should we try for F! as well?
How should we utilize FP etc...what should we not waste time doing and what should we not miss? should we invest in RideMax?
Thanks for any help...

You want a parkhopper for sure. Sounds like two or three days. :-)

What time in the afternoon are you arriving? What time in the morning are you leaving?

You can get a lot done in the morning for sure.

DTD is cool as well so you could start or end there. However I like the parks the best...

Picknic rez that night will get you in to WOC :-)

Ridemax is cool. You can only go out a month with it. However you can practice with it on the current month. It is impressive in that it does max your ride time and min your wait time.

DCA and DL are very close and so hopping between them is easy.

I really do like fantasmic at DL better than WDW.

Have fun! I am sure you will get lots of posts!!!

Do you have reservations at VGC already? I hope, cuz if not, it may not be available! Have a great time, Disneyland is different than WDW but great in its own way (better in my opinion ;) ).

I wouldn't worry about looking at tickets right now. After Christmas they might run a deal so I'd buy when you are close to your trip. Often the deal are everyone pays the kids price of 5 for the price of 3. OF course the later wouldn't help you.

Also consider how much of Tuesday and Thursday you will be there. As said you can get a lot done in the morning. Hours for DL can be 8-12 and DCA 10-10 when they are long. So if you are there when the hours are long you can use that overlap and be in each park for it's open and close. The gates of DL and DCA are about 200 feet apart. That is like MK gates to Monorail Black. Even when I go I have to hit they road by 11 or noon but I still finish that morning in the parks. I would at least do 2 days if not 3.

Try for F! if you want to see it, of course this will depend on there being multiple shows and/or if it plays on weekdays. You may not know until very close since the DLR calendars only get up to two months out. Same for the fireworks, they only play on weekends when it's slow. But both of these shows are superior at DL.

I wouldn't worry so much about Ridemax unless you use something like this in WDW. FPs are good just like in WDW. But look closely when you get close to the trip at which rides have it since in MK has way more rides with it.
