Quick dinner ideas for Pre-Fantasmic?

Around or in MGM? Quick? Counter-service meal?

If Fantasmic is at 8:30 on 8/31 how early should we get there?

We are on the dining plan, so the FDP is out!

If you have the time head over to the Boardwalk area for an eatery such as Spoodles, ESPN Zone or Flying Fish. Or across the lake to Beaches 'n Cream.

I was thinking of Big River maybe - we honestly have so many sit-downs already though... we need to use those CS credits sometime!

A lot of people on the board complain about Big River but we've always enjoyed meals there. Though, if this were up to us it would probably be either Beaches 'n Cream or Spoodles.

Don't care for Spoodles - went their last trip. DH did not love it.

B&C - went their last year - behooves me that it's a TS credit when last year it was CS type.

Some guests have been able to use MYW Dining with FDP but YMMV.

An hour before should be ok BUT find out if Fantasmic was rained out the day or two before. IF so get there very early.

have you seen the menu for Studio Catering? It's counter service, looks good and I've read some pretty good reviews here but haven't been there myself. I'm definitely planning to get over there at some point to use a CS. The only bad thing I've read is that if you time it to arrive just after the closest show gets out it can be mobbed.

Your mileage may vary.

People have posted being given the passes and using MYW dining and some have posted being told no. Sounds like more yes than no but the official answer is no. Not sure if an extra tip to the waiter helps.

Check on previous day rain cancellations, it makes a big difference. A few years ago they were actually giving rain checks to FDP guests for the following night, giving them a pass so they could enter the park without burning a day on their regular pass and was setting aside an extra section for FDP customers. Not sure if they're still doing this. Officially if Fantasmic is rained out you're non entitled to anything.

I too have heard about people eating at a FDP restaurant on the dining plan and being given an FDP pass, without actually having the FDP package booked. I'm thinking we'll get some counter service and eat in line or our seats.

How early do they open up the actual seats before the show? or is most of your waiting in a line to get in the theater?
