quick banking question

I am going to OKW next Sat. and don't plan on going on any other trips anytime soon. I was thinking of banking points so I don't forget them. If something comes up and I decide to go back to disney do the banks points gets used or how does this work?

When you bank points from one use year to the next, they are then available for use in that second year and, in fact, must be used during that year and cannot be brought back into the current use year for a trip during the current use year, i.e., once banked, they stay banked. When you call to reserve a vacation for that second use year, MS follows the policy that banked points get used first although you should always verify when making the ressie.

As drusba posted, banking is a final transaction and banked points cannot be returned to their original use year.

But if you want to go before the start of your next use year, you could borrow points from your next use year to do it.

For example, let's say you have 100 points in your contract and have an August use year. You don't think you will vacation before 7/31/2009 (the end of your 2008 use year) so you bank them. So now, the banked points must be used for a vacation that occurs between 8/1/2009 and 7/31/2010 and there are no points left that are good for vacations between 8/1/2008 and 7/31/2009.

Now let's say you want to take a spring break vacation in March 2009 (which is in your 2008 use year) and need 60 points. You can't get the 100 banked points from 2008 back for that, but you can borrow 60 points from your 2009 use year for the trip.

If you borrow 2009 points for that March 2009 vacation, then you will have 100 points that have to be used during the 2009 use year (or they are forfeited) and 40 points that can be used or banked into the 2010 use year (subject to the banking deadline).
