Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone is familiar with the current scheduling of boats to and from Wilderness Lodge and the MK. Specifically, is every boat accessible by a manual (non folding) wheelchair? I know that in the past when we have stayed there usually there were two boats alternating on any given day and one of the boats was the smaller inaccessible kind and we always had to wait for the next boat (the bigger one that we could just roll on). I know that my son loves the Wilderness Lodge and the freedom of taking the boat to the MK (rather than the whole procedure involved with the busses) but before we consider going back to Wilderness I was hoping that the problem with the boats had been addressed. The main problem with waiting around for the next boat (if we missed the accessible one) was that we were waiting around for 20 to 30 minutes in the heat and my son would basically melt by the time we arrived at the park.

Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks :cutie:

There are only large boats that goes to MK. The smaller boats mostly go between resorts and cannot accommodate wheel chairs. They also, during very busy times, have some small boats that go to MK. So, yes, to my knowledge, it's only the large boats that can take wheel chairs/scooters, and they're approx. 20-30 min apart. :goodvibes

There are 3 of the larger boats(cruiser) and 6 smaller ones(launch) in the MK resort area. Generally one cruiser and one launch serve the WL/MK route, WL also has a bus diretcly to WL. The other 2 cruisers usually work the FW/MK route and FW does NOT have a direct bus to MK.

Just got back from a week at WL and we could not find any rhyme or reason to when a large or small boat would arrive. There might be a schedule of which size boat is coming when, but I would be surprised. Our trips to MK (and there were a lot!) were pretty much half of each type of boat.

It is actually very easy, the two boats(cruiser and launch) run in continualy loops between WL and MK from prior to park opening to after closing. So everyother boat will be the cruiser. The rare exception happens midafternoon or so when all the boats rotate out to replenish fuel.

One of my favorite things about the boat ride is being able just roll on and off - less stress and hassle. Not to mention the Disney Mania music and the wind in your hair :goodvibes

The boats are only fueled at night. If there is a shift in the cycle during the afternoon that is due to other operational needs, if they need a larger boat on the Polynesian/Grand Florida/MK route due to the monorail being out of service.

Usually in the morning the cruiser is the first boat, the launch the second. And they continue that rotation throughout the day. The goal is 10-15 minutes, but occasionally due to delays in loading or traffic they might change and it can be up to 20-30 minutes between boats.

To the OP, no they still only have every other boat able to handle a wheelchair.
