I may be going to Disneyland in April (for the first time since CA Adventure opened). I'll be traveling with my father (53), grandmother (84), and grandfather (90).

We're not really into thrill rides. What are the things we shouldn't miss? We'll only be spending 1 day in each park, and I'm actually kind of hoping we can do what we want in CA Adventure in a morning.

I just got back from WDW a few weeks ago, so I know I want to hit It's Tough to Be a Bug and Soarin'. What are other non-jostling attractions you'd reccomend?

Is there a sit down restaurant that's not to be missed in CAA? (I'm bummed that Blue Bayou will be closed-- any good runner ups?)

What are the best days of the week to visit the parks? I'm thinking Wednesday and Thursday. I was sort of thinking driving down to DL on Wed., hopefully arriving by park openining. Taking a break in the afternoon to check into the hotel and maybe a short nap. Then back to the park, staying late for fireworks and hopefully balcony seating at the second fantasmic. Then CAA on Thursday because it opens later and we won't be getting up as early. We'll have about a 3 hour drive back that evening/afternoon, so maybe leaving CAA by 5 or 6 at the latest.

And one last question-- we'll probably only stay over one night. Would DLH or the GC be more convenient for getting to the parks?

TIA,

Jessica

Oh and I forgot to mention, this whole gung-ho two day travel plan is not by my choice. I'm still hoping to convince my dad that we need at least 2 nights/3 days, but I don't know that I'll win that battle.

You should be fine either hotel will be ok as the walk from either (even PP) is short to both entrances.GC has a back entr.into CA if you have hoppers you can cut through CA to get to DL.
Try to sell them on the fact that now I think a 3 day hopper is cheaper then a 2 day reg pass.I went Mon with a person who has never been and we did all the main stuff (some FL & TT rides excluded) arrived at about 11:00 and left as parade was ending.

rides your grandpa could go and enjoy
Train
Walt's movie where Lincoln usually is
Tiki room
jungle cruise
peterpan ( they will stop the platform for him)
storybook boats
in DCA
CA dreams
Muppet 3D

The GC is closer to CA and DL, but the DH is closer to the monorail.
The DH is much cheaper.
Your gp's may also like Soaring in CA. It's not fast by any means and my 5 year old - who doesn't like fast rides - loved it.

Dont miss the Aladin show in DCA. The view from the sunwheel is great, but it takes so long to get on, I dont know That I would waste the time. If you do go, be sure to get in the line for stationary cars rather then the swinging ones. They rock, swing and slide. The golden zypher would also fit your needs. There just isnt a lot in DCA, especially if you are looking for mellow rides that arent kiddy rides likes bugs land..

If you are looking for a sit down meal with service, you might try the Carnation cafe on Main Street.

Check out the shows. Aladdin in DCA would be a must do. I am a huge Billy Hill & the Hillbillies fan (I go to DL just to see them sometimes), so I have to tell you to go check them out.

I found the restaurant at the Vineyard to be pretty nice. Also, Storyteller's Cafe at the Grand Californian is a veyr nice restaurant with reasonable prices. It's really close to the DCA entrance at the Grand Californian.

In general, the food at DCA is much better than DL. So, even for your counter services meals, I suggest DCA over DL.

I'm not sure if this will change by April or not, but for now there are no fireworks/fantasmic during the week, only of Fri, Sat & Sun. So you might want to plan for that if you want to see them.
