Okay, it looks like we'll be going to our first ever HHN this year on 10/18. I'm a bit of a scaredy cat, but DH loves this sort of thing, so I'm going to put on my big girl panties for one night. We arrive on 10/18 and should be done getting all checked in by 1 PM, so should have plenty of time to make it over to Universal. What are the hours of the party? Also is it worth the price of admission? Last, what do I need to do to keep the scareactors from honing in on me?

You will really enjoy yourself at HHN. This is my fifth year and I wouldn't miss it for the world!

In order to keep the scareactors from coming at you, you will need to act brave. They usually find females who are screaming and hiding behind their friends and really go for the scares. If you act like it doesn't bother you, you should be OK.

I think it's definately worth the cost of admission and I think you will too. If nothing else, you can watch other people get scared...it's great fun!

Since you're going on a Saturday, I would strongly advise buying Express passes for that night...I know they're expensive but worth it. Also...if you want to get a jump on the lines, be in the park before it closes at 5pm. You can do Stay & Scream which will give you first access to several houses before the outside gates open. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Yes, all of these things, but I have a tip that most other people don't know about. It'll help you prepare for the scares.

When walking through the house, look at the security guards positioned around the entrance of about every new room. They look like they're monitoring rowdy behavior, but they're really helping scare people. When they tap on the drywall they're leaning against, it's a signal to the ScareActors behindit to jump out at the next person coming. The security guard probably thinks that you look like a wimp and would like to see you wet yourself. Just be careful for these guys!

do you have to buy the express passes online before hand or can you get them there? Is there only a certain amount of passes or unlimited?

It's better if you buy them ahead of time since they will sometimes sell out.

DH and I talked about it and we really can't afford to do the Express Pass or the Stay and Scream. We hadn't budgeted for this originally, but he's a huge Fangoria fan and so he really wants to go. We've decided to go on October 22nd instead, hoping the crowds will be a little lower on a Wednesday night.
