Hello everyone,

I wanted to get some information from you experts on traveling with a child in the spectrum. Our family will be going to Disney in December 2008 and our youngest DD3 has the diagnosis PDD -(nos)in the (ASD) spectrum. We have been researching every website we can find on line to help us travel easier with her. Please feel free to give us as many helpful hints or tips you may have regarding air travel, Disney parks, coping w/long lines, how to get special passes etc... My husband mentioned getting a special card that identifies the childs condition/disorder or finding a special needs facility at Disney. She is high functioning, has little to no sensory issues, is very animated, but is very active and stubborn - sometimes cannot sit still. I read about a GAC card. What is it? and Where do I get one?
Thanks so much, I know I am asking for a lot of info. but we appreciate all the help we can get. Since her diagnosis at 2yrs of age, it's amazing how many people who are willing to help and we were so afraid to ask.:)

Have you read the stickies at the top of the disAbilities forum? I would start there. Also, look at older posts... there are many that deal with autistic children.

::yes::
Post #6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread is all about the Guest Assistance Card (GAC).

There are also some links to past threads in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There are some links to past threads about autism, but some where people asked about Attention Deficit Disorder may help you too.
There have been many posts over the years about autism. Only the first few pages of older threads show up, but you can find them if you do a 'google' search and only search on the site www.disboards.com
