I have hestitated to buy a pair of Uggs, but am now thinking about it. My reason for hesitating was that I am always too warm, and figured wearing wool lined boots would have me melting.

Ladies - what is your experience? Do they keep your feet really warm, just right??? Socks or no socks??? Wool clothing bothers me ... will the lining??? I don't want to spend this much on boots and end up not wearing them.

Do you wear yours when it snows ... how do they hold up???

Also, anyone have experience with Ukala/Emu boots?

Wool doesn't bother me so I can't help you with that question.
They don't get too hot. Wool is great at regulating temperature so the boots are warm without being hot.
I wear both socks and no socks. If I'm going somewhere that'll I'll be taking my boots off I wear socks just because I don't want cold bare feet.

I wear mine in the snow all the time. They are better without socks in the snow. I find the lining keeps my bare feet dry and warm but if I wear socks they sometimes end up wet. :confused3

OK, I live in central California which doesn't get very cold so take my comments with that knowledge.

I find my Uggs to be hot. I do not wear them as often as I thought I would because of this.

I wear with no socks as that was what was recommended when I had my fitting.

I cannot wear wool clothing but the linings on the boots do not bother me.

We have no snow here but I have worn them in the rain. I purchased the spray and I spray them a couple of times during the season.

I'm in Boston - I have two pairs of Uggs - a short pair that I wear as "casual wear with jeans and I live in them on weekends - I don't find them too hot on my feet at all. I have a tall black pair that I wear to and from work daily, I'm on and off several trains I wear them in the rain and snow without any problem. If it's a really snowy day I will switch to snow boots, but otherwise it's my uggs daily.

I love my Uggs....they are my comfy boots, but I rarely wear them out and if I do its just to the gym or a quick errand.

I've had my Uggs for 3 years and they look just like the day I got them. Granted I treated them, only wear them on weekends, and don't trudge through the mud with them (though I do wear them in the snow and rain).

I do wear them with socks sometimes, even though I know you're not supposed to, just because wearing shoes without socks just feels wrong.

My feet are ALWAYS cold. In Uggs, they're not. That's why I love them. They may be expensive but because they've lasted so long I definitely think they're worth the money.

I cannot buy any sweater / scarf / etc with wool in it I itch like crazy.

Uggs are lined with sheepskin fleece, its not the same as wool I dont believe, at any rate, its soft and cushy and does not itch the way wool does.

They do make my feet really warm though. I cannot imagine the people who wear them in the summer! IF I wear them shopping for example and I'm in a store for a long time I end up with HOT feet! Yuck.

For running a lot of errands in and out etc though they are great.

I wear socks usually with mine, I actually think I get hotter without socks if that makes any senses I'm not sure but that's how I feel about it. I do occasionally skip the socks though.

Invest in a good spray to weather proof them and they will hold up great in the snow. Either the ugg brand, or theres one by like Kiwi or something thats worked really well for me.

Also, you can replace the lining when it gets all matted down and gross :)

I can't speak to "too warm" because my feet are always cold, and the reason I wear them is to alleviate this. Wool usually gives me hives, but I can wear the boots with thin socks. Otherwise, they do feel slightly itchy to me.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Uggs.... I have 2 pairs of short ones (chocolate brown and black). There is no comparison to the knock-offs.... I had a couple of different types of fake ones before I got my first pair of genuine Uggs the Christmas before last. They are soooo comfortable-like slipping your feet into warm, fluffy clouds... LOL! They are toasty-warm and I do wear them both with and without socks.

By genuine Uggs do you mean ones from Australia or New Zealand? Any sheepskin boots are real Uggs. The Ugg brand simply trademarked the name of traditional Australian sheepskin boots. Its sort of like a company trademarking "sneakers" and saying only that company's athletic shoes are sneakers and everything else is fake.

There is a huge difference between sheepskin boots and those without a real sheepskin lining.

Genuine Ugg brand boots are made in China.

I have Uggs (the trademarked kind), Emus, and Uggs I bought in Australia. Unfortunately, my Aussie Uggs are the least comfortable and seem the most flimsy of the three. I like them because they aren't made in China and they were a cool (yet $$$) souvenir from Australia, but I prefer my other pairs.

To answer the OP's question, they are quite cozy but not too hot for me, and I do wear them with socks. I won't wear them in rain or snow even though I sprayed the with the protectant. They are just too expensive to risk ruining!

Yes, you're right. EMUs and LAMOs are also sheepskin with a real sheepskin lining.

I have two pairs of LAMOS in black and brown. Love them.

I have a pair of the Ugg boots and 2 of the sneakers. I wear them with knee hits or trouser socks. when I bought them I was told not to wear an natural fiber socks they can cause your feet to sweat.

I wear man made fibers and I have never had a problem with my feet sweating or getting too warm.
