We have a huge memory card for our digital camera, but I'm afraid I'll still run out of room on it during our trip. Is there anywhere in Disney that I can have transfer the photos onto a disk if I need to?

Also, I was just reading in the Unofficial Guide that DTD has a Disney themed scrapbook store!!! Any reviews?

Thanks!

I just got back - over 600 photos taken. I just brought an extra memory card. We pick these up around Black Friday and BTS time when they are super cheap.

The Scrapbooking store is a waste of time. You are better off at AC Moore, Creative Memories, or other online stores. There is a creative forum on the Dis - at the bottom - with lots of scrapbooking advice/links.

We just got a memory card on Ebay that holds 1300 pics!:scared1: I told DH I think we still need another...he told me to get my head examined. :rotfl2: That was after he said I was banned if I take more than 1300 pics! :rotfl: But it's DS's first trip. :confused3 No really I think we'll be fine.
About the scrapbooking store though, I heard that it's very expensive and you can get most of the same things in Michael's. Also there is a store in Orlando that has a website called MouseMemories.com. Found out about it on here and sometimes they have some things I've never seen in Michael's too. Our local scrapbooking store has a lot of Disney things but I'm holding out for a Cricut! Told DH it can be my Christmas, Bday, Anniversary gift for the next 3 years! Have fun!

You sound like me. :rotfl: I think our current card holds that many if you set the whatever you call it low, but it's more like 700 or so when it's set at the top level.

I don't think we'll take that many, but I'm paranoid. I think I took well over 100 for 4th of July this year, so I can only imagine the number after 7 days in Disney, you know? And I hate deleting in the camera, b/c you just never know...

Man, what a dissappointment about the DTD store. We have an Archivers here that has a lot of Disney stuff, but I just figured an actual DISNEY memories store would have more. Oh well.

I just bring the laptop along and transfer my photos every night from the camera. This way I can divide each day into it's own folder and do any editing (if I have time!). It just makes sense for me.
We also use the laptop for my kids to watch movies on the flights down and back.
Internet access is expensive- so I pretty much just brought the computer along for photo convenience. I am so neurotic about my pictures!

We bought a couple extra SD cards on sale before Christmas for our Feb. trip. I read the wonderful suggestion (on Dis, of course) to take one card for each day and keep them in your room safe. That way, if the unthinkable happens and you lose your camera, you only lose that day's photos. I never had to worry about transferring photos or emptying the card after a long day at the parks.

The Disney store stuff is very dated, old fashioned, busy looking, in a scrapbooking way, not Disney old fashioned way. Very cheap looking to me. I was bummed, as it was one of the places I wanted to visit at DTD. At least it helped speed up our trip there and left more time for other stores.

I think EK Success is the company that has lots of Disney stuff - check it out online. I'm pretty sure that is the company ~they used to have lots of the hard-to-find characters, like Jiminy Cricket. I also just bought 4 "sets" of paper and stickers from Creative Memories. They released new Disney stuff earlier this summer. I need to order the kids' small albums now. AC Moore has lots of princess stuff.

This is a great tip! Thanks for sharing. DH thought we'd lost one of our cards, but it had slid under the inside lip of the wall safe - so just be careful! His fingers didn't reach in there and since it was on the front side, you didn't see it. There were a few minutes of panic on our check-out day.

In the event I leave the camera somewhere
(knock on wood - that this will never happen)
I would still have all pics from previous days.

Have a great trip.

Ahhh, I forgot about the whole resolution thing! Although I don't think DH messed with anything on the camera and it still says 1300 pics. I'll have to ask him about that! Good tip about the extra memory card too. One good thing for us is my parents are going too so if the unthinkable ever happens, at least we will have their pics. My dad is normally the typical tourist camera guy but even more so with DS, especially since it will be his first trip! I'm very paranoid about losing my camera so I'm not as worried about that as I am about it getting ruined somehow. Well off to pack some more...almost done!:woohoo:

I always take my digital camera, but I bring along a disposable camera for each day as well. I take pictures on both of them, just in case I did lose my digital, I would still have some pictures. I use the waterproof disposables for the water parks, hotel pool, and water rides.

The scrapbooking store at DTD is disappointing. The only thing I found there were albums and frames. I like to have at least one "Disney World" album for each trip. I don't think Disney realizes what a market they are missing out on by not having a huge scrapbooking selection.

I'm so bummed to hear about the scrapbooking store! I was really looking forward to it, and alloted myself LOTS of time to spend there. Oh well...more money to spend on ride pictures and Dole Whips...hehehehe

I also bring extra memory cards. I've been finding small (512MB) on clearance at Walgreens and CVS (I use CF cards) and I've been stocking up. I have an 8gig and a brand new 16gig, but ya just never know...LOL! I tend to just snap, snap, snap, in hopes of getting some great shots, and then after I upload everything, I delete. We bring the laptop and I upload every evening, too. It serves multiple purposes - I won't loose all of my pics if something terrible should happen and I am able to clear off my memory card.

I hope you enjoy your trip!:yay:

I also take my computer and transfer pics every night. When you fill up your card, it gets slower. Also, I like the security of knowing at worst, I lose a day's pictures if something happens to the camera.

Scrapbooking - not much worthwhile there. It is in DTD, but a lot of the stuff is sold throughout the parks (Mousegears comes to mind as having a lot). Sometimes I'll buy the seasonal themed paper or some stickers. Beware of the albums - some of them seem to have custom pages that I could never get the right size refills to (and Disney does not sell the refills).

I have to add that the Scrapping store at DTD *was* a disappointment, but I went ahead and got a Disney scrapbook there... it was dated and it's a 3-ring binder, which I really like. Also, most of the hotels have all of the scrapbook stuff right in their gift shops.

Have a great trip! I just got a SLR camera and I can only imagine how many pics I'm going to take on our trip next month! LOL!!

I take my laptop and download every night. You just have to be comfortable with doing taking your computer and leaving it in the hotel room. Magic kingdom has a kodak counter where I burned all my pictures onto a cd while I was in the park. You can also go to Walmart, CVS, or any other drug store with a photo center and burn your pics on to a cd every couple of days. We were there last year in April and December. I took over 1000 pictures with my new slr. Because that thing takes pictures so rapidly it was easy to take that many. Another thing I did when I was worried about going over was delete bad pictures while standing in line for a ride.

As far as the scrapbook section in WDW. I will never buy stickers or paper from there again. Five years ago I bought a page kit there and the stickers now have greasy spots on them and no longer stick. I was really disappointed to open my scrapbook and discover that. I hope they have changed the company that makes their product.

Thanks for the info everyone. Great point about taking it to CVS or similar- hadn't thought of that! We'll probably be ok with the memory cards we have- in addition to the big one, I also have a smaller one that will be good for backup. No laptop, so that's not an option.
