Questions for early Alaskan cruisers!

:rotfl: Are you my husband? :rotfl:

On our last Disney cruise aboard the Wonder there were all sorts of live sporting events being shown in the sports bar. My husband was a very happy sports fan (which of course makes a happy wife!).

We will be cruising in August and it will be football season (maybe ;) ). When cruising in August previously, they did not show any pre-season games except MNF. We assumed maybe it was an ABC thing but have heard they have shown other networks since so maybe pre-season wasn't a priority.

I think they just list some of the characters, but once you are on the ship there seem to be tons more. I remember seeing Alice several times, and she was never in our navigator.

Thanks! The same has been true on our previous Disney cruises, but there were also lots more included in the navigators than I saw for Alaska.

After seeing the posted Navigators (they are posted, I believe, in the July 19th cruise meets. If you can't find it I'll post a link) I have questions about the kids clubs for this cruise (this will be our 5 cruise on DCL)...

1)normally they are open till 1am but it lists the club being closed at 10 or 11pm on some night. Are all the kids in the lab then? or are younger kids to be picked up by then?
2) I didn't see the Royal Ball, How to be a Mousketeer, or Goofy PJ party on the schedule. Do they not have these bigger events in the clubs anymore?
3) Do they still have the graduation ceremony for the kids? That was so fun to see and I didn't see it listed.

THANKS!!!

It wont let me post a link because I only had 7 (now 8 posts) and I need to have 10 to post a link so... the navigators are on the thread "Alaska on July 19th, 2011 where a good tan is hard to find" on page 122, post #1829

The Navigators can be seen right here.

Any one take the 9:15 am quick shuttle to Seattle after the cruise? Does it sound reasonable considering the time required to disembark and go through customs etc? Pick up is inside Canada Place and hopefully we'll be in the first group to leave the ship. Thanks!

How is baggage claim for those with early flight out of Vancouver? Any delay? Thanks.

We are trying to decide whether to take the shuttle or rent a car and park it so I am also interested in the answer to this question. For those who have parked at the port - is it really $39.95 per day to park there? :confused3

We would much rather take that earlier shuttle, but am worried about making it ont time. I'm guessing we would need to be there a few minutes before the
scheduled departure too.

I am on the 9 am shuttle to Seattle which will get me to the airport almost 2 hr. early. I have been told that we can request early departure tags for our luggage. I had a friend that did this in LA and they had no problem getting off in about 30 mins. If they can't do this then I will just keep my bags with me and leave with the first group. The ship looked like it got in the port early in the morning on the first cruise so I am not worried at this point.

If you prepay with Vinci the parking is $23 per day. Sorry, it won't let me post the link.

For those just returning....

Was the gift for returning Castaway Club members still a refillable aluminum bottle? I just want to know if I have to pack a big mug for sodas.

Thanks

Thanks! That is Ketchikan and our shore excursion says 1:15-5:45 and we have the main seating for dinner. Looks like we might miss/be late for lobster night.

Dan

Our shore excursion in Ketchikan ends at 6:15 and we have main seating for dinner. How late can you show up for dinner and still be admitted? This is our first Disney cruise so I’m unfamiliar with how that works. Thanks!

We showed up 30 mins late one night and just skipped the appetizer and they put a main course order in for us right away. It was because of an excursion running late and they were not overly concerned.

I wasn't on this cruise, but we've seen that before where they moved the remaining Club kids to the Lab for movie-time when it got late.

I also thought I read on another thread that they've stopped doing the "last day graduation" on all of the ships.

I have already booked a reservation for our Alaska cruise with a local travel agent. I didn't know about Dreams Unlimited until I started looking around thist site. Now I am seeing all of the onboard ship credits they offer and since we are going to add on the ABD option I am wondering if I canceled my current reservation with my current agent does anyone think I would be able to rebook with them? $400 is alot of credit!!:confused3

They ended the "graduation" more than 2 years ago when we did our last cruise. They did have a celebration ceremony in the WD Theatre with Mickey, but it was something like "Remember your friends." The kids were rocking out to HSM, Camp Rock and Hannah music. They do still get t shirts, but no Mickey ear graduation caps.

I'm trying to find out if they still run a kids' talent show. It was WAY too late last time around and my DD is desperate to do that on this trip.

That might be a tricky one...I would call DU and tell them what is up. Maybe they can take over the ressie.....it doesn't hurt to ask. I would not cancel your ressie because you than run the chance of loosing it.

I always book with DCL myself than transfer my ressie over to DU for the bigger OBC....if you book your DCL ressie on line and transfer that ressie you can still get the $50 OBC through DCL and the OBC with DU....

Good luck...$400 is a great OBC :thumbsup2
