#1- Is the green line the correct subway to take from North Station to get to the Wang Center on Tremont Street? What is the closest subway station, and just how difficult is it to get from North Station to Tremont Street by subway? We'll have minimal luggage, nothing heavy.

#2- Can anyone recommend any restaurants within walking distance of the Wang Center? We're not looking for anything fancy, maybe pizza or something similar to Applebees or Ruby Tuesday.

Thanks so much in advance for any help!! :)

Yup, take the B,C or D branch of the Green Line from North Station and get off at Boylston.

As for restaurants, I'm not too sure. Try this website: http://www.phantomgourmet.com

Have fun!

There are different branches!?! It doesn't matter which one we take?

That's correct. Make sure to look at the letter!!! I got on the wrong T the last time I went to Boston and ended up really lost. :rotfl:

To get to where you are going, it doesn't matter. The branches split AFTER the stop you need to get off.

Here's a link, right off the Wang's page for restaurants in the general vicinity:

Thanks! I did spend time on the Wang Center's website. I just wish they'd give approximate distances. Do you know which restaurants are closest to the Wang Center?

Rock Bottom (a kind of brew pub) is pretty close (about 2 blocks from the Wang). We've eaten there a few times. I think the Bennigan's is close too.

I'm trying to remember what else is right there.

I usually take the orange line to New England Medical Center. You can also get the orange line at North Station. There is also a green line E branch that you can also take since the green line split for all branches is after your stop. There is no A branch. I think the walk from the green or orange line are both the same about a block each.

Does anyone know if the Loew's Cinema complex is within walking distance of the Wang Center? I believe it's on Tremont Street, same as the Wang Center.

It is about 1/4 mile, so yes, it is within walking distance. Have fun! :)

It's about a block and a half away from the Wang, located right outside the entrance to the Boylston St. T Stop.

While the earlier poster is correct about the relative proximity of the Orange Line stop, I'd stay with the Green line in getting to the Wang Center. It's just a little less complicated.

This should help. Here's a map of the area you're in with all the nearby restaurants highlighted. There's a Bennigans that is about a block away from the Wang.

http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?n...=1&.intl=us&addrtype=12&compass=&BFKey=allres

The Wang is the dark area right in the middle of the map where it says Hollis St. Head due north to go to the cinema and the Boylston st T stop.

Yes you can take the train from North Station to the Boylston street T stop. That is a stairs only exit. If you need elevators you can get off at the stop before which is Park Street. It literally a block before and you can see the Boylston St. T stop from there. If you do get off at Boylston st when you come out the doors you will see the Loews Cinema across the street to your left. You do have to walk to the corner to cross the street and go back up the block to the movie theaters, this is about 100 yards. The Wang theater is on the same side of the street as the movie theater, but it is about two block further. At that same corner you will cross towards Starbucks and walk down past a few things including: A karaoke place,The Tam (a Dive Bar), New york Pizza, Jacks Joke Shop, The Intermission Tavern (A cute place to get a burger before a show), Subway (the sandiwich Place) and A chinese Restaurant ( I don't know the name of it at work we call it,"The good chinese place") You will cross the street after the Chinese, continue down pass the Wilbur Theater and then you will be at the Wang. You will see the Marquee as you are walking.

Within a two block radius there are many Restaurants including: Bennigans, California Pizza Kitchen, Legal Sea Foods, Maggianos Little Italy, McCormick and Schmicks, Rock Bottom, Au Bon Pain, Finale (expensive desserts) Jacob Wirths and PF Changs.

Thanks so much everyone for the info! We were just in this area last weekend. We went to a movie at the Loew's cineplex, (neat place!), and we took a taxi from the movie theatre to the shops at the Prudential Center, but I don't remember seeing the Wang Center or anything else on Tremont Street. Maybe we went in a different direction. :confused3

This weekend, my daughter and I, along with several friends, are going to see the So You Think You Can Dance Tour at the Wang Center. Since I absolutely refuse to drive in or around Boston, we'll be taking the Downeaster, (Amtrak), from Maine.

Everyone has been a big help! Thanks! :)

edited to add- Husband has no problem driving in Boston, but he's not going with us next weekend. :)

We were just there last night! But went to the Wilbur theatre, right near the Wang. We saw the 25th Annual Putnum Spelling Bee musical. Wow, it was soooo funny!!!

Anyway, we ate at Bennigan's. Loved it. The food was very, very good. The portions are splittable, trust me, very big. Have fun! Oh, and we also went and splurged at Cold Stone Creamery before the show, thats right around the corner. oh yummmm!
