Hi All,
In July we will be staying at the BWV and AKV. My DD will be about 18 months and I am thinking she may still need a high chair...I know that the resorts have cribs that you can request but can you request a high chair or is that something I need to rent????

Also, I read on the boards that people have put fans on their strollers. I really want to get one for her...we have a malcern volo that we are going to bring...does anyone know where I can get a fan? I checked online and am not having much luck. But at the same time DH and I were thinking of getting a different stroller because this one does not recline....Has anyone been to Disney, used, this stoller and not been happy with it?

THANKS!!!

What size villa are you staying in? I'm pretty sure there is a high chair in the 1 BR & 2 BR villas (we definitely had a high chair at both OKW & AKV). I don't know about studios. Since the villa resorts have them, I'm sure you could request one if there wasn't one in your room.

All villas have Pack N Plays as the "crib".

I got DS's stroller fan at Walmart.com. It was last year though. I don't know if they still have them. I know WDW sells one in the gift shops. Bring lots of batteries for your fan. I also brought a travel screwdriver to open the battery compartment.

You'll probably want a stroller that reclines for your baby. She'll be much more comfortable if she wants to nap or rest.

Have a fun trip!

I just booked the Wilderness Lodge Villas and requested a high chair just to make sure one would be in there.

I'd agree that a stroller fan is a must! Especially in July.

I have two of these-- bought from CVS last summer- and they worked well. The foam blades didn't hurt little fingers. I think it lasted 2 to 3 days on each set of batteries.

The only downside is that the clip isn't that great. I hooked it to the stroller hood, so it didn't have much to hold on to and slipped a bit. I probably could have clipped it to the bar, but I had a bug net and it kept on getting tangled when we walked.

Unless you plan on going back to the resort for naps, I wouldn't suggest the Volo. An 18 month old will likely fall asleep and would be much more comfortable if the stroller reclined.

I'd recommend a combi-- it's small, compact, has a carrying strap, and lightweight. Last year's models are on sale, so you wouldn't have to make a big investment:

I travelled with full-sized strollers when my daughter was young, and suffered on the buses for it! I went on a solo trip with my daughter when she was about 2.5 years old and had to get something easier to take on the bus. This has been with us on every trip since! I love it! Funny enough, I did just buy a Volo for my daughter-- she'll be too tall for the Combi to fit her comfortably during our next trip and I found it on sale.

Thanks for all the imput...I am going to look into the Combi.

We will be staying in AKV and BWV during our trip so I will call and request a highchair!!! Thanks again

Great ideas coming here. Thanks for sharing it. We're planning a trip on December with our kids and with our 16months baby.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

We're heading to WDW in 10 days with our 13 month old DS, and staying at Saratoga Springs. I've requested an actual crib for our room instead of the pack 'n' play. DS doesn't sleep well in our pack 'n' play, so I thought I better request a crib just in case. We also requested a high chair.

We also have the Volo, and plan on using it. I'll let you know how it works out for us. Honestly this whole trip we'll be "going with the flow"... we plan to head back to the resort for naps, but we're staying in a studio so I'm not sure how easily DS will go down for a nap with us in the room with him. And I've never taken him on long day trips in the Volo before so I'm not sure how easily he will sleep in it either. We'll see how it goes, and I'll be sure to let you know.

Our 2-bedroom villa had a highchair in it, but you might want to put the request on your ressie to be sure your room has one.

As for the crib, we called Housekeeping and asked for a crib. We had a pack 'n play in the room, but DD wasn't sleeping well in it. They brought us a mini portable crib that has metal rails all around and is higher off of the floor than a pack 'n play.
http://www.babycribsplus.com/Foundations-4020-2F-CW-FOU1055.html We folded and wrapped the extra flat sheet from the pull out sofa around the end that DD was sleeping near so that she wouldn't bump her head into the metal rails. You may want to request one of these on your ressie as well.

amergren ---- please let me know when you get back how it went with the volo...i am getting more and more worried about not having a recliner, but I LOVE this stroller...We are also planning on mid-day naps, but I can still picture her falling asleep in the stroller...Please let me know how it goes.

Will do! I just took DS this afternoon to one of my doctor's appointments and plopped him in the Volo... he looked so relaxed the whole time! I kept thinking I hope he'll be this relaxed in a few days... he's going to be spending A LOT of time in it!! We leave this Sat and return on Feb 16 so I'll post a note once we get back... or during our visit if I remember :-)

Thanks so much!!! I put her in it just recently and she is still a little to tiny for it. But i really love the high handles, how light it is etc...Have a wonderful trip!!!

We're on day 8 of our trip and having a GREAT time. Definitely take your Volo -- you'll be happy with it. Our DS has fallen asleep in it a number of times without any issues whatsoever. Plus, it's light and easy to fold, etc. You'll be happy to have it if you'll be taking the buses. The Volo has been great for quick naps at the parks or while waiting for the bus/walking to the room, etc. We have tried to get him to take a good nap each day in the room, but a few days we just didn't have the time and he's done fine.

We've been very happy with the Volo and relieved we didn't have to drop another $60+ on another stroller. Plus, it's been super easy on the buses. Every time I see a parent struggling with a larger stroller I thank God I didn't bring my big Graco!!

Be sure you have the sunshade with you (we almost forgot ours b/c I didn't have it attached at home). And remember the shade does tilt forward which is nice for when the sun is beating right in your little ones face. You can tilt the shade down enough to cover their face, but yet they can still see what's going on in front of them. We also bought this organizer which has been nice to have. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8811731&findingMethod=rr

Good luck with the rest of your planning! Feel free to ask me any other questions you have on your mind :)

OOOO. Thank you so much for taking time during your trip to respond! I think we are definately going to use this stroller. Enjoy the rest of your trip and let me know when you get back if you have any handy tips for the airplane or in Disney in general. My next challange is trying to determine how to keep her busy on the plane.

I'd also suggest a good umbrella to attach to the stroller since the sunshade on the volo is useless and the little one will probably be in direct sunlight otherwise - the best way to a grumpy toddler.

We recently stayed at OKW and there was a pack and play and a wooden highchair already in the room. It was a two bedroom villa though.

Also... We have the Volvo for our DD who is now four, but she has napped in it a few times without a problem. However when I went to purchase a stroller for DS I wanted one that did recline socwe got the Quest and I like it better than the Volvo. When DD was about 18monrhs we went to Disney and took our full stroller with us. Big mistake! The recline feature is great and it does not tip as soon as you put a jacket over the back like the Macclarwns tend to do, but the buses... You do not want to take a large stroller that takes forever to unload and fold up on those buses. Trust me. That first trip was why we went out and bought a Macclaren in the first place. They are great strollers that are light and fold easily and compactly! I would reccomend a Quest if the reclining thing is too much of an issue for your DD. Yes, also get the fan or the stroller umbrella when going in July.

I was reading through the posts and was wondering if the organizer can fit a camera in it? I saw another one like this but it doesn't look like my camera(kodak z710) will fit in it.

I took my two year old and 5 month old in early June and it was horrible. The crowds were ridiculous and it was 100 degrees every day. The kids were hot and the fans did nothing. Normally, they would nap in their stroller but it was too hot so we had to go back to the room for naps. I will never go in the summer again. We are regular Disney people and go every year in January but for some reason we went in June instead last year. With that being said, I think if you take precautions, it will be enjoyable. They have water spray areas all over the place in all the parks, bring an extra pair of clothes for the kids and some water shoes and just let them play and cool off. My sons favorite spots were where he could get wet. The playgrounds all have little water areas and at other random spots. Keep them hydrated, offer cold juice and water often, and load up on sunscreen. Also buy and additional sun shade to attach to your strollers existing one. When the kids have had enough, just go back and enjoy the pool and relax out of the sun. We had a grand villa that time and rented toys from baby's best friend so just being in the large living room with "new" toys made them happy. It should be fun, just know what to expect.
