not really sure what board this belongs on. maybe the community board, or maybe the creative board because this will culminate in a creative project. i still think it could fit in on the main board though.............. anyways, i'm working on a project that is related to vmk, but the product won't be IN vmk. so if you could answer these questions for me, i'd appreciate it.

are we aware of yavn's real name???

what are the working conditions of vmk workers? (do they work from home, or in an office???)

okay, i know this sounds really stupid, but what's the difference between someone whose title starts with HOST, and someone whose title starts with VMK???

where are the "vmk headquarters"??? (i mean the place with the vmk server and possibly where people work on vmk. i'm guessing maybe california???)

i'm guessing there's extensive training to gain a job as a member of the in-game staff. does anyone have any idea of what this training involves????

do the people that develop the game work at all with the in-game staff??? no, right???? and the people that design clothes and stuff, is that sulake or did they only set up the program???? (the company is sulake, right???)

okay, i know these questions are weird, and i feel stupid asking some of them, but they will all come together in one final product. and if you have anymore info related to any of those questions, just let me know.

Only have an answer to 1 question, but I guess it helps.
HOST_ host events like games, and stuff like that. VMK_ go around the game, judge people's rooms etc.

1. His real name is Seth. His last name is uh, something I don't know. Like a really long one.

2.They work in a Florda Building. Or maybe Cali. Or maybe both.

3.HOSTs only host games (hence teh name HOST) and VMKs roams VMK and help ppl with questions and stuff

4.The servers for all Disney sites are located in the Disney Headquarters at Burbank California

5.Yea, They go through many tests with teh VMK values, learn how to do certain things, learn what not to do, and thats about it.

6.Most proramers left the scene and went on to working on other Disney Attractions. Seth (yavn) is never on because he has to work on other Disney attractions and things liek that. Clothes are set up by Disney, then sulake programs them into teh flash library.

I think Blue that these questions would be better answered by a member of staff such as Yavn or SuzyQT as I am not sure that your answers are all correct.

Maybe you should post this in the ask Yavn and/or suzyQT thread.

I talked to a Sulake employee once at DLR and this is what I learned according to your questions...

Staff with HOST_ in front of their titles run the games/quests, while those with VMK_ deal with the "help" and "report" button and "walk" around the park helping players.

Sulake has an office in Santa Monica, which is the assumed place that their VMK staff works out of when they are in the office. I'm not sure all of them work from home, but I do know that some do.

Sulake and Disney Interactive work together on VMK. It really isn't clearly defined of how much each company does in terms of the programming. However, Disney is the one who determines the look and what we get in the game (for clothes, furniture, etc.)

Wow great answers Erin. Ty I Just learned some stuff I didnt know. Ifthey would just get rid of teh requirement of having to deal with frustrated parents and teens I would submit an application now!

That's the stuff for being a VMK_ staff. QA_ requires you to have a bachelor's degree, 2-3 years experience, use of game creation related programs and a bunch of other stuff. But all of them have desire to work.

thanks!!!!!! i'll send the answers to the ask yavn/suzyQT thread, although many of your answers provided me with a lot of good insight!

He got Yavn from Star Wars or something not his last name...and I think his real name is Paul or Seth....but idk

Some QA_ are Disney Interactive employees. But being a QA_ requires a bachelor's degree in computer science.

Quoting CaffDawg answering a player's question on how to become a tester: "Get a degree in computer science. Work for Disney."
