We plan on using the Mears shuttle to get from POFQ to Universal studios our next trip in Sept. Do we tip the driver ? If so how much ? Can we make reservations for the Mears before we leave for Florida or should we wait until the day before we go to US ? We wont be going to Universal Studios until our 4th day at Disney.

It is up to you if you wish to tip the driver. I usual tip a few dollars. If you are using Mears to get to Universal Studios, you only need to call them the day before for pick up time from the hotel to the park. You will then have to call them again a few hours before you leave the park to find out what is the pick up time.

Would a dollar per person be alright to tip or is that enough ?

My husband and I tip $4.00 each way. We figure about 20% and since you will have a different driver each way, divide the tip in half so each driver gets half. You can tip whatever you want though. I'm sure the drivers appreciate whatever they get.

I'm not sure this will work for you, but Dreams Unlimited is selling a one day/two parks US ticket that includes transportation to and from your WDW resort to US for approx. $114 per Adult. You must enter the park the same day as the transportation. It seems like a good deal since the the cost of the park entrance is practically the same so it's like getting free transportation. One other thing, you can't bring luggage aboard the bus - as it's geared for day guests not overnight guests. Hope this was helpful.

Doesn't that also get you one hour early into the parks?

Some have said yes, others no. It's nothing I would count on. Besides, the bus doesn't start running until 7:30ish...depending on which stop you are.

I have done this several times and it has worked very well. I have also booked just the shuttle part and taken it to US/IoA on a Wednesday, stayed overnight and taken the shuttle back Thursday afternoon. You just can't take luggage on the bus with you.
