Questions about TIW???

So we are considering AP's this year. We are coming for a 10 day trip next week, and possibly one more shorter trip this year. We are DVC members, so we get the $100 AP discount. We can't really decide if AP's are worth it, but if they are, then we might want to purchase TIW.

If we were to purchase the TIW card, is the discount only good at Table service restaurants? All the information I can find seems to indicate that it is. For us, it loses a lot of value if we can't use it at Quick Service dining.

Thanks for your help!

We have APs and TIW - it is only good at TS with one exception - The rib place at AK does accept it. The discount basically covers the cost of the tip. For our WDW habits the APs and TIW are both perfect!

We have purchased a TIW card since it first became available to AP Holders. We love it. If you like a lot of CS meals, you may not find it worthwhile. We eat at least 1 TS meal a day and find the savings is well worth the price of the card.

Not sure if you have seen this list:

Actually, several CS restaurants in AK accept TiW - not just Flame Tree. Also, all food courts in the value resorts accept it... as does the food court at Port Orleans - French Quarter (as that resort doesn't have a TS restaurant), and personally, our family loves the POFQ food court for dinner! (Great ribs!)

So, unfortunately this doesn't help a lot if you're staying at DVC resorts all the time and are seeking CS meals, unless you care to indulge in the TS restaurants at DVC resorts.

However, what we've learned as AP & TiW holders is that we could have an enjoyable meal at TS restaurants for similar prices to some CS restaurants. We split single large TS portions into meals for two, or order appetizers instead of entrees for meals... some entrees actually are in a $10-14 range at TS restaurants - which is the same price as some CS meals.

It's great flexibility with TiW. There are very few TS restaurants that actually aren't included - Yak & Yeti is one, but we haven't had any other restaurants on our list that haven't accepted TiW besides Y&Y.

The card will also pay for itself if you do any of the higher end TS dining. The first year we had we went to Cali Grill and the amount saved was almost the price of the card. We think it's an excellent investment!

This is exactly what we do - and now we're doing a lot more TS with TIW. We used to just do one TS per day and now it's usually 2 per day. I know some people feel that 2 ADRs per day are restricting, but we like knowing that we have a (relatively) relaxed place to sit down for meals with our kids.

Oh yes! As much as I love food from a place like Cosmic Ray's, it's pretty hectic to try to find a table, and sit with the kids while someone else goes up to get food and may even has to go to different lines to get what everyone prefers... then it's just loud and there's people everywhere! And when people walk around with trays of food and no place to sit, you feel like you're in a rush to let others sit...

Even if I have to wait a few minutes (ok, any wait from 2-15 minutes would be the average) to get seated at a TS, at least we're all together and no one is stressed out trying to get all the orders right alone or stressed out with the hungry kids all alone... TS meals are a nice break in the day. :thumbsup2

We don't even have to book all our ADRs in advance. We could go to Epcot, have some fun, start to realize where we'll be around lunch time and call up to see if any ADRs are available... we've been able to get seated without much notice at Nine Dragons and Biergarten... not all restaurants require ADRs either. Just don't expect Le Cellier or Chef Mickey's without an ADR... take a chance at a less popular restaurant - you may be pleasantly surprised!
