After I booked my very first cruise for a January 2017 Wonder Cruise, I keep seeing rumors about the Wonder getting a facelift this fall. Being as fall is getting closer every day and no real announcement has been made, what are the chances that Wonder is really going to get any upgrades? I guess my real question is when the Dream was reimagined, how far in advance was the announcement made? Either way, I am ecstatic about a Disney cruise, I just can't help but to be curious!:yay:

I heard it was only getting exterior modifications but who knows. Regardless she was in great shape last month when we sailed her!

There has been a lot of discussion on this board about the Wonder's potential make over. It is going to happen. To what degree nobody knows yet. Speculation is that it will be updated like the Magic with lobby, restaurant and kid area changes. We'll just have to wait for the official announcement.

I saw something on this that DCL wants to make some major advancements. New technology is what the DCL people said. They want all their ships with different attractions on it.

I read that Wonder is definately getting some pixie dust on her fall dry dock. Disney declined to give the details at the time. The article implied that they might be different than the Magic upgrades but left it wide open.

Given the time that the Wonder is scheduled out of service for this dry dock, I would expect that she will be getting quite a bit of work done. Disney is usually very quiet about their plans in advance. Some of this may be because they have a couple ways to go with their modifications based on the opening of the new Panama Canal but I think mostly it is Disney being Disney. They are going to use the announcements as a marketing tool. So I expect to hear their announcements some time when they feel they need to spark some interest. Right now they just had a bump in activity by announcing summer 2017; they'll get another bump when they announce the remainder of 2017 and then when they need the next bump I would expect to hear about the Wonder.

Just returned from the Wonder on the 27th. Our server told us that it will be in Spain for over 2 months and "everything" will be new.

She's due in Cadiz for 2 months (and no TA trips with passengers on the way there or back) so I'm assuming it will be some pretty good upgrades!

We will be sailing on the Wonder for our first ever cruise in February. We're so excited to be travelling on her right after her refurbs.

We were also on the Wonder April 22-27, and were told by multiple CMs that she was getting a reimagining this fall. None of them had (or were willing to divulge) the specifics, but I suspect the lack of any specific announcements is due to the Panama Canal issue. I wouldn't be surprised if they had two plans ready, and will make a final decision and announcement closer to her drydock date, when they have a better idea of the Canal's completion. :) But she's definitely getting some work done!

I was on there with you!

I will be sailing on the Wonder for my first ever Disney cruise in March! So excited to see the ship. I will be curious to know what it was like before and after refurbishment. I will have to post photos.

We are on the Wonder now. She is looking good and we have a blast. Captain Guus told that within 1 or 2 weeks there will be a public announcement of the coming upgrades and this cruise (and this year's EBPC) will be her last through the old locks. He couldn't share any more details. Sorry, I really asked him (in Dutch).
