Questions about Spiritair's 9.00 fair club

Is anyone in that ? How does it work ? Do you really get cheaper flights ? How far in advance do you get them ? Are they best for quick, last minute trips ?

I'm trying to decide if we should join.

You do get cheaper flights but they are few and far between anymore and when they do come out they are usually at terrible times and they happen to sow up far to close to my travel dates to be effective. I like to have all plans and bookings made months in advance and for the times we go the prices were released about 2 weeks or less prior to our departure date. We love flying with them but we don't ever seem to get anything worth a look in the 9 dollar fare club. Orlando flights are also scarce they seem to have good deals for flights to NYC and to Vegas etc but Orlando is not usually in that list.

From what I read, you do have to book a RETURN flight in order to get the deal, and often the $9.00 fare you might see is not offered coming home, especially from the Orlando area.

I don't think I'll be joining.

We need flights for April , and right now for 6 of us , out of Detroit to Orlando is $1300. Good, but hoping for better. Last year I payed $535 for 5 of us. Don't know if I'll see that again!

I saw flights that low for our Sept trip last week. $555 for 5 of us return.....

My mother loves the $9 fare club. Flights are hard to get on it. Just to let you know you have to pay for your luggage now and I think it is $20 or $25 and if they don't fill the plane they will cancel the flight at the last minute leaving you stranded. One of the local radio host's in my mothers home town was talking about it and it ended up cost her over $1000 more because they cancelled two days before she was suppose to leave. Whatever hotel she was staying at she had to for if she did not show up. I guess a couple of other people called in with the same problem. I will not use them after hearing that.

I CANNOT WARN PEOPLE ENOUGH!!! They are notorious for stranding passengers and leaving them to their own devices to find ways home - last summer we flew with them to Orlando from Detroit and got left there after they cancelled all of their flights on our return day - they offered us one 3 days later!!! I asked them who would pay for my hotel and food during that time and they said that was my problem!!!!!!!

I received ZERO compensation from them and had to pay over $1300 to get an immediate flight on Southwest who I should have booked with right from the beginning.

Since my flight with them I have read literally hundreds of similar stories. One involved 40 people getting left in Central America and their luggage was all lost. Not one of them received any compensation and the last I heard there was a pending law suit.

Please - stay away - they have the potential to ruin your vacation! I know lots of people have flown with them and not had a problem, but the risk is too great in my opinion.

We have flown with Spirit many times and have never had any issues I just never got into the 9 dollar fare club we joined but there was never any availability for flights from DTW to MCO.
