Questions about Self-terming??

I have nearly 3 weeks left in the program. I have a family emergency that demands I come home early. I basically have to leave by the end of next week, but that will literally be self-terming a week or so early . . . Is there any way I can get an "honorable" self-term?

I saw on youtube a girl who was struggling to focus because of things going on at home and they got an honorable self-term with ears and a graduation certificate. I would love that since I am basically done with the program and I really don't have a choice in this, I have to go :( In her video, she said she had a meeting with someone who called her managers during the meeting. How exactly do I go about getting a meeting?

Is there an office or somewhere to actually talk about my options with self-terming? Somewhere where they will really talk to me, not just ask for my key and ID when I mention it?

Thank you SO much. Help ASAP is appreciated.

You need to discuss this directly with your leaders - Factually explain the situation (A family emergency has come up that may require me to leave the program up to x-days early. Should that need arise, is there a process that cane be gone through to leave early and still preserve my standing in the company [assuming it matters to you that you are eligible for rehire]) Often towards the summer, there are systems in place that allow participants to leave a week early for graduations, so they may be able to amend the system for this situation.

As for the ears/certificate, those are from the DCP program team. Do the same thing with them (many of these teams work in the apartments, yes? Find out which one handles the service celebrations and discuss it with them - preferably after you've spoken with a leader about possible plans of action).

If it is at all possible to hold out through the end of the program, then aim for that. It may not be ideal, but if company standing and service celebrations are important to you, then discuss with your family to see if there is a way that you can stay through the end.

Best of luck, and I hope that you and your family are able to make it through this situation together

The housing program office is the best place to go. They will talk you through your situation and tell you who to talk to from there. There technically is no way to have an "honorable self-term," the people who term and still get their ears and certificate are usually just there until the graduation event happens, so they still get their DCP swag.

To get a meeting with the program office, just walk in and tell them what's going on. I believe the offices are in Chatham and Vista. You don't really need an appointment

The most your leaders can do is put in for you not to be a restricted rehire once you leave the company, saying that you can be rehired without further review. Leaders really don't have much say in the college program specifics, so it's better to go through the housing program office. People term all the time, they can tell you what to do and what you should expect.

When I termed at the end of my program, the Chatham program office ladies where my lifesaver. I was going through some tough stuff, and they really listened to me and helped me.

Hope everything is okay at home!
