Hi there,
Need some advice. DH, myself and DS (age 6) are planning to visit Legoland, San Diego Safari Zoo and Disneyland. Here is our plans so far:

Saturday, March 23- leave home and drive to Carlsbad. Plan on getting there around lunch. Check into hotel (Hyatt Place) and go spend the rest of the day at LegoLand.

Sunday: Go to San Diego Safari Park

Monday: Spend the day at Legoland and then drive to Anaheim and check in at Hyatt of Orange County

Tuesday-Thursday Disneyland (we are AP holders and have been there a lot so not worried about this part of the trip)

Questions:
- does my schedule seem doable?
-anyone ever stay at the Hyatt Place in Vista?
-How long from Vista to San Diego Safari Zoo?
-Is 1 1/2 days enough for Legoland and Aquarium?
-Is 1 day enough for Safari Zoo?
-What safari to take? DS LOVES Africa animals so I am trying to decide between the African Tram or the Cart Safari?

Thanks so much!

Your schedule looks great to me. I have not been to Legoland since it opened (my "child" is 65). One day is going to be more than enough for the Safari Park. It will most likely take about 30 minutes to get there. I would suggest the Asia Cart tour. Africa Tram Safari is included with your ticket, but the Asia cart Safari takes you into an area that would normally be off exhibit right now to guests, as there is no other way to see these animals. I would suggest getting there early, as the animals are going to be most active in the morning. Also plan on staying into the afternoon for some of the animal encounters. One of these is a cheetah run, where a cheetah is run on a track off leash - really cool to see. Time varies for this, but is usually around 3 (check the map when you get there. Also, during this time frame, we will have our butterfly exhibit open, so you can walk through. If you wear bright colored shirts, they may land on you. Another fun activity is the Lorikeet Landing. For less than $5, you can buy nectar and the birds will land on your arm to drink, sometimes even multiple birds drinking at the same time.

You may be able to tell, but I am an employee at the Zoo downtown, but know alot about the Park also. If you have any specific questions, please PM me.

We did the San Diego Zoo Safari park in October, and wish we had two days to spend there. We only got to visit about half the park, and only did the African Safari. It is a great zoo. I really think you will enjoy it.

We did lego land/aquarium last week with our 4 children. 1 whole day is perfect if you need to cut out some time. We saved the aquarium part for the last part of the day...it is not that big. It took us about an hr

Thanks everyone for all your replies. I should say that DS LOVES animals and zoos, we go to the SF Zoo often, so maybe 1 day at legoland/aqaurium and 2 days at the Safari Park? We also go visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium every month sometimes 2 times a month. :)(we live in Monterey, CA).
