Questions about room only vs. package discounts...

I am so undecided about what to do it is making me crazy!!

I'm reading that it is cheaper to book room only than package (in posts about the dining option). Do they not offer discounts on packages??? Where there any package discounts in the Jan-April discounts that were recently out??

Aren't the MYW ticket prices the same whether you buy separately or in a package??? And the dining option is a set cost, so that would just leave the room price that is discounted, correct??

We are going in May and haven't booked yet because I'm trying to decide if the dining option is worth it. For our family it seems to be (we do lots of character meals) but not if it means we won't be able to get any discounts on our room/package.

I really want to book soon but this whole thing has my head spinning, LOL!!!

I have never booked a package, but I am pretty sure that I have heard people say they have booked a package and then been able to apply the code to their package when one comes out.

There are no discount codes available for the packages that include the MYW dining add-on, except those booked through an AAA travel provider. If you want the dining package, unless you are AAA and book throught hem, you will be paying rack rate for the room.

If you have a room discount code, like AP rate or other discount rate, figure that the difference in room price PLUS the price of the dining add on is what you are really paying for the dining package.

so the chances for a package discount for May are slim to none??? My TA leads me to believe there could be discounts coming out, is this a far fetched idea???

We can't justify AP's since we only go once per year or sometimes less. Airfare is just too high to go more.

As far as if any package discounts will be available, other than AAA, no one will know for sure. It depends on how popular the current package is, and the expected occupancy of the WDW hotels.

As of now, there are no package discounts...what the future will bring is anyones guess.
