I have been looking over all the layouts in the Sticky thread. They are so lovely.
I hadn't seen the ribbons and brads and other new embellishments before. I love the way they look.

How do you attach the ribbons? How do you keep it from unraveling?

Can anyone give me any tips or pointers? I am excited to start on a new Disney Album from our recent trips. I went shopping and got some ribbons, and brads, a hole puncher and a rectangle punch. A few sheets of paper and some stickers. I don't really want to do the staples.

Thanks for sharing your layouts and any tips.

Pretty much--anything goes! I have a hole punch that has two slits on it that you can punch along the paper and then thread the ribbon through it. I've also run the ribbon through my little X Xyron, or just use my regular tape runner or glue stick on it. I've even used brads through the ribbon to tack them down.

Good luck with your Disney album!!

I'm the same as Diana, I love my xyron X. It turns paper and other embellishments into stickers.
I do use regular staples some times to tack small pieces of ribbon on tags and the corners of photo mats.

Yep- love the Xyron for ribbon. Works like a charm.

Here are the different ways I've attached ribbons to layouts (and other embellishments):

-One or two punched holes, ribbon threaded through and tied. Sometimes the holes are reinforced with eyelets
-Staples (although you said your weren't keen on it, I'll mention it anyway)
-Glue Dots! I use these little gems for about 70% of my ribbon attachment needs
-Poke through ribbons with brads (careful you don't snag it), or tie around brad

I use double sided tape to adhere mine, as well as the beforementioned, staples, paper clips, etc. As far as unraveling, I usually cut mine on an angle or overlap the page, so in case it does unravel, no one will notice.

I love brads - I think I've gotten to the point that I hardly ever use eyelets anymore. Brads are so much easier with not having to use a hammer to set them (and scaring at least one dog in my house!) and I always seem to "squish" the front of the eyelet anyways.

I've just ordered a crop-a-dile, because I got three dinosaur eyelets in a grab bag (and I'm in an embellishment swap - I'm not THAT spendthrift :rolleyes1 ) so I'm hoping my pages can become eyelet-tastic!

You will love using ribbon!

I think the easier way to use it is to just staple it on. I love to cut smaller pieces, fold them and staple them on. It's so easy and ribbon adds so much to a page.

As for brads, I bought a "poker" to make the holes, then just poke thru the brad and flay the backs. I've tried to use brads to adhere ribbon by poking thru the ribbon, then thru the paper, but I find it can sometimes pull the ribbon and cause it to crease.

Anything goes with brads and ribbon. Just start experimenting and you will have a great time. :wizard:
