We haven't flown since the new regulations are in place about carry-ons. Last trip I packed backpacks w/snacks and drinks and activities for DS's. Planning on doing the same thing next trip, but what about the sizing?? I realize carry-on cosmetics have to be under 2ounces (is that right??), but what about juice boxes? Snack packs of jello, or chips?

What do you bring in your carry on to snack on/drink?? thanks!!

we brought snacks on board but no drinks....we had to buy those after we passed thru security at our airport. Our friends had a backpack full of chips and pretzels and candy.....but nothing that was liquid.. Go to the website of your airline you are flying with and they will have a list of dos and donts....

It's actually 3 oz. You can't bring beverages through security; you have to purchase them once you get through.

We usually just wait until they serve us drinks on the plane- that is usually enough liquid for us. I don't like anyone dirking to much because we do NOT want to have to use the airplane bathroom. As far as snacks they usually give us that on the plane too but if its a long flight I will bring peanut butter and crackers, peanut butter on bread, or just those little individual containers of peanut butter and she eats that with a spoon.

Jello and pudding snack packs will probably not pass security - I think they are too "gel-like". Juice boxes are also not allowed, unless you find some that are less than 3 oz and can fit in your quart size bag. You can buy juice once you get through security, but you may not find boxes - you will probably find 20 oz bottles.

I take chocolate teddy grahams on the airplane, along with those cheese and cracker sandwich things. I would take rice cakes (Quakes) but they are so salty that I always get really thirsty so those are out.

I always buy a bottle of water AFTER I pass through security to take with me on the plane. Planes have such dry air that I'm always thirsty and the water bottles on the plane are tiny.

You can take EMPTY sippy cups, water bottles, etc through security and fill them at drinking fountains or from 20oz bottles that you purchase AFTER security.

are those little Handi-Snacks with the spreadable cheese on one side, and either crackers, mini pretzel sticks or mini breadsticks on the other OK??

Doubtful. Nothing soft. Cheese qualifies.

I got peanut butter crackers through by very cleverly outsmarting the TSA. I put them in my pocket. :) I've snuck a lot of stuff through using the ingenious "Put It In Your Pocket" method. I didn't even think it would work the first time I tried it. But it did. They almost never catch me.

But if they notice and/or you have to go through a pat-down then you'll lose them.

I find it's always best to go to the source.

Here is the website with TSAs rules.

YES you can bring juice through security if you've followed their guidelines and are traveling with a child. YES you can bring dry snacks. It's all explained on the site.

Some TSA workers are trained differently so I always print out the info and bring it in my carry-on. I also do this for the airlines policy and the FAA guidelines for car seats on board. That way, if there is any question, I can show them the official policy.
