Questions about Magic Bands

Hi there,

For our upcoming trip, my family (me, DH, DD (5), DS (7) ) have the following:

Animal Kingdom Lodge - Dec 30 and 31
Beach Club - Jan 1 to 6
Resort accommodations were booked by renting DVC points from a broker. Everything is linked and showing in MDE.

5 day park pass (via a hard copy exchange certificate)
1 day park pass (via an email bar code)
Passes were purchased with credit card loyalty points. Everything is linked and showing in MDE, FastPasses have been made.

When I went to customize our magic bands, it looks like we have a magic band for each of our resort stays. Does this mean we have two magic bands each? How does that work with our park tickets? Will they show up on both magic bands? Somewhat related, when I take our exchange tickets to the Ticket Centre, can I get the 1 day pass loaded up as well? We will be doing this on NYE (I know, we are crazy!) so if I have to stand in line forever, it would be great to get it done at the same time if I can.

Because you have 2 resort reservations you are entitled to get two Magic Bands if you want them. I suggest choosing two different colors for each person. If you only want one set you can decline the other. Once you have them you can use whichever one you want because they will both be active in MDE not dependent on your actual resort stay. If the tickets are showing in MDE they will be linked automatically to your Magic Bands once you have them activated. You should be able to activate them all at the same time.

Yes, of course. You get to customize a mb per person for each separate reservation number that you have. Disney doesn’t know what a split stay is.

Tickets are connected to MDE. Reservations are connected to MDE. MBs are connected to MDE. When you scan a MB it links to your MDE profile and reads your ticket info or your room info and lets you into the park or a room or the FP+ line. Use any band assigned to you and it’ll work the same.

Order one. Order both. Doesn’t matter.

You have two sets of tickets per person? Does it matter which gets used when? If so, that is what you’re going to have to stand in line for, to prioritize the ticket you want to use that day.

Also, the magic bands can be combined (using a small eyeglass type screwdriver)— see photo.

We had a split stay during our last trip so we each picked two colors and swapped the Mickey pucks.
