I've seen some of the new kid's choices at these places, and they look ok for DD4. I'm just wondering how strick they are with substitutions/requests/presentation. We have done mostly buffets in the past, and at home, so she's been used to variety & choice. For this Sept, though, I've booked Le Cellier, Mama Melrose, Kona, and Teppanyaki. Can DD get the kid's steak at LC on the DP, or do they not allow it because it's extra? I would prefer to have her eat as much "real" food for dinner as possible (since she'll be doing the fried, cheesy, and gooey stuff for lunch), so might they substitute salad, chicken soup, or grilled chicken instead of hot dogs, mac & cheese, and the like? DH and I can share our entrees with her as well. If I wanted the server to bring DD's appy & entree at the same time (so she doesn't fill up on just the appy), will they do that?

I have never had an issue with substitutions or having the apps brought together with the entree. My son is 7 and has always eaten non-traditional "kids" meals. I have found as long as you ask them up front, they have been very accomidating. They have also been rather good at substitutions when we needed one.

Have a great time

I wouldn't count on them being too accomodating at Teppanyaki. While we love this restaurant, our server was grumpy and seemed almost happy that my 8 year old had to order a pre-packaged cookie for desert instead of ice cream. It was no problem since I gave him mine (I was way too full to eat it anyway :rotfl: ), however I was surprised at her attitude. Even the cook commented on her grumpiness (she was like that throuhout the meal). In the beginning, she strongly emphasized the kids meal choices, and although we weren't going to ask, she made it very clear that there were no substitutions.
After saying that, I still recommend this restaurant - the cooks always seem fun and I think our server was the exception to the rule. And we love the food!

I have Kona's dinner menu. One side is games and a coloring page which my son had fun doing. When we got home and I was sorting things, I saw the kids menu.

There are two complete meals which are pictured and look very tasty: "These meals include one serving from each of the five food groups."

The first is grilled fish of the day served with whole-grain rice pilaf, veggies and yogurt parfait. The veggies appear to be green beans and sliced carrots. The parfait includes strawberries and granola in the picture.

The second is Grilled Chicken strips with macaroni topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella served with veggies (same picture as meal one) and fruit salad.

Kids's picks:Choice of one appetizer, one entree and one dessert.

appetizers:chicken noodle soup or garden salad

entrees: hot dog, hamburger or macaroni and cheese

desserts: fruit salad or ice cream sundae

All meals served with choice of 1% milk, bottled water or juice.

There is also a note that french fries and soft drinks are available upon request.

I noticed a darling little boy...maybe two...working away on a little salad. I thought it was wonderful that his memories of Disney Dining will be of such healthful choices.
