I have a couple of Gardengrocer questions for those of you who have placed orders for resort delivery:

1. How long before your arrival date did you place your order and was it ready when you arrived?
2. Have you ever ordered milk from gardengrocer? My DFi is lactose intolerant so I was going to order lactaid milk for him.
3. If you answered yes to the question above, was the front desk able to keep it refridgerated for you?
3. In case gardengrocer milk doesn't work out, are lactaid and 1% milk sold at the Pop gift shop? If so, how much are the 1/2 gallon size?

Thanks! :)

not trying to hijack this thread BUT.....we have ordered milk for out late Aug stay at Kidani and would like 2 know this as well.

ALSO: does anyone know what types of wine are available at Kidani lobby?

thanx!!!

1. I usually start putting things in my cart about a month before the trip and then I officially place the order about 1-2 weeks before. If you are traveling during a busy time, place you order early, they do sometimes stop accepting orders for busy days. Both times we have ordered it was delivered about the same time we got on ME. You get to pick your delivery time frame when you order and they will send a text once it is delivered.

2. Not milk but creamer for coffee

3. Bell services will keep anything that needs to be kept cold in a fridge. No problems at all with that.

4. No idea, sorry

We do the same as WsPrincess - fill our cart for a month and place our order a week or so before. We have ordered milk on our last 3 trips with no issues - bell services kept it refrigerated until they delivered it our room. In fact we have milk in our GG cart right now as we're headed to WDW in 20 days. :thumbsup2

Sorry, can't answer regarding Pop as we have never been.

I order about 3 weeks out. Refrigerator and freezer items are always maintained.

You can order wine from them too. Add it to the comments section and they will contact you.

We order a couple weeks out. Bell services has fridges/freezers and will keep your stuff cold for you until you bring it to your room (or have them bring it up). Pop doesn't sell groceries, so you should get the milk from GG.

We've ordered from the Garden Grocer numerous times. Our groceries have always arrived at the time specified. Yes, they do refrigerate the necessary items.:thumbsup2

Gosh, I wish I could swear by this, but I'm pretty sure the Pop gift shop does carry Lactaid. They do carry regualr milk. I can't give you an exact price, but I'd put WDW groceries in the ballpark range of convenience store prices.

I've not gone with GG, but we have used Parmalat milk to get around the traveling with milk problem. Once you opent he cartons they need to be kept cold, but until then they can be kept at room temp.

I don't like to cook while at WDW or spend much time grocery shopping, but once I start to look at grocery delivery, I've always been tempted into just getting a rental car and hitting a grocery store myself. I also dont see a big difference between WDW gift shop prices and Garden Grocer prices ofr the itmes I would buy.

In terms of time saved, a rental car almost pays for itself at WDW. Just for starters, it will usually save you over an hour over ME for the trip from the airport- usually more.

I can't say that I have seen Lactaid on property. Normally they will stock single serve packs of soy milk. It had been Silk, but last trip was Kikkoman Pearl organic I believe. POP will stock that, in the same cooler as the other beverages in the gift shop. No real groceries, just snacks. I also don't recall seeing big size containers. Milk they usually at least sell in like liter bottles, but the soy has normally been just the single serve containers for $2ish. A half gallon of milk is around $3 from the resort gift stores.

If you need it in large quantities, you best bet will be to order from GardenGrocer of WeGoShop.

Or if it is just a soy milk, you may be able to order from Amazon and have a case delivered.

Sorry to go off topic, but can you explain this? You ask them to contact you about wine after you've submitted your order?

Thanks.

Quoted from the website:

"We also deliver products not listed on our website (Special Request Items). You may request these items at checkout."

I would assume then that there's a comment box on the checkout page.

Has your DFi tried the Lactaid tablets? You take one right before consuming dairy, and it is the same stuff as in the lactaid milk. You can find it at many drug stores. If you can't get the lactaid milk, that might give you more flexibility to just get regular milk.

I placed an order with Gardengrocer a few days ago. Our trip is in a month. I figured, why not just get it done and then I don't have to worry about it. We ordered almond milk - which they have - so I sure hope they keep it cold. Two of my children are allergic to cow's milk, and one is allergic to soy too...so we're on almond milk now.

Good luck!

Yes, he does take Lactaid tablets. And this helps a lot. He can eat moderate amounts of cheese and other dairy prodcuts with this but unfortunately, he seems to have a much stronger reaction to milk. Once, he took 3 lactaid pills and drank a couple of sips of regular milk and had gastro issues the rest of the day :sad2: So we just don't want to chance it, especially at Disney. And he's so picky! He doesn't like almond, rice or soy milk so it's going to have to be either Lactaid milk or no milk at all.

Try re-posting your question on the DISabilities section - and looking over in that section. Folks over there have specific info on what products Disney carries and howto deal with special dietary needs.

You can also call Disney special diets.

I ordered from garden grocer last Jan. and was very happy with the service.

We ordered about 2-3 weeks ahead of time. I would suggest ordering at least 3 days ahead. The website often says that next day delivery is full, so a few days would give you a buffer.

The package was delivered while we were still at the airport. You get to pick a 2 hour delivery window, and you don't have to be at the resort when it arrives. We recieved a call from GG confiming the package was delivered.

GG packages pershipables (like milk) seperate from other items, so that bell services will refrigerate those items. Our milk and other pershiables were cold, even though the package had been with bell services for 8 hours. (when we arrived our room wasn't ready, so we went to the parks) Disney hotels are used to these deliveries so I wouldn't worry about it.
