questions about eating at DLR with an almost 3 year old

For all the character and restaurant dining I see listed, prices are always for age 3 and up. DD won't be 3 yet on the trip. Do we pay for her at sit-down restaurants, and how do they charge? Also, for counter svc, do they have high-chairs like they do at WDW? And do any of the counter svc places have "dress your sandwich" bars like at WDW? I know at a counter svc place I will have to order her something separate. But wasn't sure about at a buffet, or character meal, or sit-down restaurant. Thanks!

Until our kids were old enough to order a kid's meal, we always fed them from our plates. I'm not sure how a character meal would work, but I can't imagine they are planning on keeping track of what your child is eating. There are high chairs throughout the resort, and the only dress your sandwich place that I can think of is Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA, where you can put whatever you want on your burger or chicken sandwich at a condiment bar. Unless your child is able to put away an entire kids' meal on their own, I doubt they'll charge you for sharing with them, the only exception could be a character meal where you are paying for more than a meal.

When we went to the Character breakfast @ PP with my 2+ year old nephew, we just set him up with a place mat and brought him back food. Even with the character experience, we didn't have to pay extra for him.

I also think the Village Haus in Fantasyland has a small condiment bar, but don't quote me.

We took DD2 to Minnie's breakfast in June and did not have to pay for her to eat. She had her own plate and no one said anything. Funny thing is that she ate more food than my wife and I did during that meal.

Great question! Our son will be 2.75 when we go to DL and I was wondering how that worked with the character meals. So, it sounds as though we're okay giving him his own plate at buffet meals, right?

Last year on our trip, ds had just turned 2. We did Minnie's for breakfast and we did not pay for ds, but he was allowed his own plate. Also, at Ariel's Grotto, we did not pay for ds but he was allowed to choose a kids meal, I believe the portions for under 3 are smaller, but it was still too much for ds. Everything else though, we all just shared with him, pretty much.

We had character breakfast at Storytellers in Nov and DS2 had his own plate and we were not charged.

We also asked about Toddler Meals at a few places and they brought him a smaller version of a kid's meal at no charge. I know that one of the places was Cafe Orleans, but I can't remember the other one.

Buffets are free for children under age 3, so definitely get your child his own plate. :thumbsup2

I was not aware of Toddler Meals; when we ate at non-buffet places, we just shared our meal with our youngest DS, or bought him his own. I wish I'd known!
