Questions about Disney Visa

We just got an offer to open a Disney Visa and receive a $200 gift card after a certain amount of charges. Is this about the best deal they offer for opening an account? Does anyone know when/if the gift card would expire? Our next trip is in about 2 years.

Any other advice? Our current credit card offers about 1% cash back so I'm not sure if I want to make the switch--but I like the idea of earning rewards toward the next trip!

That is the best deal, and what we got when we opened ours. Ours is the premier Visa. You just keep accumulating points and then when you are ready to redeem your points you have them transferred to dollars on the rewards card. We charge all of our bills and purchases each month on the card for the points. It's also nice to be able to get discounts (like 10% of $50 or more at Disney Store) and also early access to resort and package discounts before the general public. We just got an email notification for a special Halloween party at our local Disney Store an hour before the store opens, with crafts and fun things for the kids and a special savings discount for the parents for shopping. Also, Disney Visa cardholders get the free photo at Epcot.

Yes that is a good deal. I have had the card for several years and have never seen them offer anything higher than $200. My gift card did not expire.

All we have an entire thread for the Visa card. Lots of people don't know about the thread because its all the way at the bottom of the boards. Here is the link :)

Depends on how you like to use them...if you are planning on putting all your rewards towards Disney (like we do) then it is better...you get 2% back at restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations...and most Walmart supercenters count as "grocery stores" as do some Targets. Those are our biggest budget items, so the extra percent is very nice.

There is a yearly fee of $49, but for us, we clear the yearly fee in the first two months of the year, and the other ten are just points...for this trip, after two years of having the card we are putting about $1,100 of rewards twoard our trip...I'm sure we could have earned more if we had been more dilligent about using it for everything we could, realized we had a few recurring monthly payments (the Netflix, tolltag) that we forgot to move to it.

If you can use it, and pay it off in full monthly, you can get a nice chunk pretty quickly. And once you get that first Disney Reward card with the points on it, you can call in and transfer points to it at any time...we cashed ours out putting down our last payment in August...but already have estimated we will have at least $250 ready to move back to the Reward Card when we go in December...only takes a minute to add that to the card we have in hand (takes ten days to receive a new reward card, so we just always use the one we already have.)
