Questions about buying extra memory cards or a photo bank

Hello, we are going to Disney in January for 6 days. I have a Canon Rebel xt and currently I only have a 1 gb, 2 512 mb, and 1 256 cards.
I am guessing I will need about 10-11 gb's of memory for Disney. I'm taking the Rebel and my older Nikon Coolpix for the kids to use (used cf, as well). I do not have a laptop computer.
I'm researching my choices on memory and just getting more confused. The cheapest for Sandisk compact flash cards is $20-$40. I need about 8 more.
Question, should I just keep purchasing memory cards or is a photo bank a good idea? I would use it a few times a year (vacations, etc). I am worried about losing my photos, though. I would like something realible.
I was looking at a Jobo one. Any ideas on that?
Thanks for any advice,
Carrie

I recently purchased 2GB CF cards from buydotcom for about $30 each. At that rate you could get 10 GB and still not spend anywhere near what a decent storage device would cost.

10GB for 6 days is pretty serious, you *belong* on this board! ;)

Thanks for the link. I'm checking it out now.
I am so mad at myself. Office max had 1 gb cards on sale on Black Friday for $12.xx. I ordered 8 of them. Today I received them, I ordered sd instead of compact flash! Oh man. :furious:
Thanks again,
Carrie

Amen! :teeth:

As for the OP's question. I have 3 1GB cards and 1 2GB card. I also recently got a USB 2.0 external hard drive case from geeks.com that also doubles as a 9 in 1 card reader. Got it for $30. I don't have a hard drive it for it yet. I'm looking at getting a new Maxtor 200GB hard drive on ebay for about $60. So for about $90 I'll have a portable 200GB hard drive that doesn't need a computer to download pictures as a backup. Just something to think about.
