Questioning about renting out points

I listed an existing reservation to rent on one of the well known rental broker sites. When it came time to change the guest list to the people who rented the reservation, the site was adamant that I call MS and get them to modify the guest names and email, etc instead of doing it online.

is there some reason they want me to call? It worked fine to call but I’d rather just modify the listing on the site instead of a 30 minute hold and spelling and double double checking a bunch of names to someone over the phone.
 
Chat availability comes and goes, depending on staff availability. But as far as I know, your results will be the same whether you do it by chat or by phone. I like chat better for the reason you stated - it's easier to provide name/address/email info via chat and less chance of incorrect info due to typos on DVC's part.
 
You can't change the lead guest online yourself, only MS can do that. You can use chat though which is what I do. Then I can just copy/paste the info. I did that a few times today.
 
As mentioned you have to call to get the lead guest name changed. All other guests can be deleted and new ones added online but only MS can do the lead guest.
 

In the past I've changed the lead name/address/email on a reservation through chat.
 
Follow up to this. I am also considering renting a reservation out (removed resort) however we already did the online check in. Am I able to swap out the names on the resy (clear our payment details and pin too) even though we already did online check in

Yes, doing online check in doesn't affect the ability to change names and so to rent it out. And your saved payment and pins are unique to each person and are not actually part of the reservation. The reservation just links to the info of whomever is on it.

Ah, so it's the lead guest info you can't change online. Makes sense. Sounds like chat is the way to go if it's available. Very tedious spelling out names and email addresses over the phone. Thanks for the info!

I tend to call mid to late afternoon and haven't had a wait of more than 10 minutes over the past couple of months. 2-5 minutes has been the norm. Chat can be more difficult to get to pop up and not all of them seem able to do the same things.

Yeah I called at a busy time for sure. Luckily not something I'll need to do more than once or twice a year

Also when I do rent I add any or all names online and then just call in and ask MS to delete the lead guest - ie me! Makes it a very quick call once they get to you in the queue. If the occupancy would be maxed out then at least you can get it down to only deleting and adding one person. And if you update the lead guest address to the same as the people you are adding then it flows thru with even less typing required.
