Question(s) about using CS credits on QSDP

I posted this under the Kids CS credits sticky, but I didn't want to go too far off topic over there. I have a question related to how I can best use my meal plan for a family of 4, when only 3 are on a dining plan.

Here's the situation: DH, DD5 and I will be on the QSDP - DS2, an avid eater, will not be. We will be paying for two sit down meals OOP and spending a day snacking at F&W, which will leave us with a number of CS credits leftover by the end of our trip.

I had figured I could use up any extra kids meals throughout the week by getting both children a kids meal at a couple of meals. I could use up the extra adult meals by getting a third adult meal for the two children to share. But after reading through the Kids CS FAQ, it appears that I cannot do that in a single transaction - meaning since I have 2 adults, 1 child, I can only get a maximum of 2 adult meals and 1 child meal at one time.

My question is, if I cannot get more meals than for those on the dining plan in one transaction, would my husband and I be able to split up the meals, and use our separate KTTW cards in two separate transactions? For instance, if we wanted to get 3 adult meals for the four of us, would DH be able to go through the register with two, with me following after in a separate transaction with one?

This will be a hassle, but it is better than having the credits go to waste while having to pay OOP for additional food for my son. I don't want to break any rules, I just want to make the best use of the credits I've paid for. :flower3:

Yes. Any member of your party can use up to 2 AD and 1 CH CS credit on a transaction - while you can 'turn off' charging privileges on KTTW cards for various members of your party, the ability to use dining credits does not 'turn off' even on a child's KTTW.

We often use a child party member's card to pay TS meals - because then we know that the meals are being 'paid' using credits and not being accidentally charged to the room.

Sorry about being vague on the Kids FAQ section. I actually mis-read your question regarding have extra meals (both adult and child). But yes you can get an extra meal in a separate transaction, a pain I know. We will most likely be doing the same since we will have one or two days at US and extra meals left on our DDP. Just to let you know, your CS receipt will not distinguish between adult and kids meals when giving you your CS credit balance.

Sorry to bring an old thread back, but I wanted to make sure this is still the way things work. We will have two adults, a 7 yo, 4 yo, and our 19 month old DD with us (but not on the plan) and have some leftover credits as well...can my husband and I still do two separate transactions, getting 2 adult meals at once in one transaction, and then another adult meal in a separate transaction with one of the leftover credits? We'd love to do this places where the portions are smaller and our DD might need a little more food from our plates. Thanks!

As long as you do not use credits for which you paid a child's price for the extra adult meals (unless the restaurant has no child's menu), you are not doing anything against Disney's dining plan rules and you can do this.
