Question Regarding Noise Help

Hi,

My family will be visiting Disney for our 1st time in November. We are staying at the WL and very excited.

Unfortunately, we are all very light sleepers....especially my daughter who uses a fan in her room for "white" noise.

Any suggestions on what I can bring for some white noise in the room. I was thinking of a buying a small portable fan, unless the hotel would have one and also asking the hotel if they could accommodate a room that this quiet.

I've traveled a couple times with a friend whose little one sleeps better with some white noise. She has a small white noise machine she brought once. The other time she brought a small air pruifier. Both worked like a charm!

My daughter takes her portable CD player with her and she has little earbuds. She just turns the music on really low and sleeps the night through.

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

Most of the noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

Some of the newer resorts have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

Many of the rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests find that a fan or a white machine helps them sleep better.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

You can buy very small fans -- like 7 or 8 inches -- that are small enough to pack. Try Walmart or CVS.

BEd and Bath has great white noise generators that are easy for travel. you can also buy a small fan and take that along. I have done both in the past.

I have one of these. I take it everywhere. I'm on my 4th one - but I've been using these for over 20 years!

these are great and very portable.
We have them where I work to muffle the noise coming from each office.
It's funny to hear so many people ask what they are and then tell us they thought we had an ant or rodent problem and these were to catch them

Wow, thanks so much for this great advice!! I will definitely ask for a room away from the pool.

I'm feeling so much better....also, I have never heard of this sleep aid at JCP.

I'm going to buy one this weekend!

They have these in a few different places not just JCP. But I don't know who has the better prices off hand.

I'm not sure what type of room your staying in. We had a woods view room on the 4th floor. We could hear a lot of noise coming from WCC until about 11pm. It was loud enough that we had to make the volume louder on the tv so we could hear it. Try to stay away from the main pool and WCC.

My daughter uses a white noise machine from Target every night. I just looked and didn't see it on their website (ours is 3 years old), but I got it in the baby section for about $12 I think. It has volume control and about 10 different noises (heartbeat, rain, etc.) though we always leave it on waves. You can put it in timed mode, goes off after 30 mins I think, or continuous on so it's on all night. Plugs in or battery. HTH!

another suggestion would be to ask for a room on the top floor... we had some VERY noisy people above us at POFQ and it was horrible (esp since we kept vastly diff't hours... we were up and out by 8am and they were just getting in around 2am!) and we've since learned our lesson!

Have you considered ear plugs? I have been traveling with them for years now. They sell soft foam ear plugs at all major stores (Target, Walmart, etc.) They are easy to carry, cheap, and completely drown out most noise. For some reason high pitched sounds come through, so you don't have to worry - you WILL hear a smoke detector and alarm clock.

For white noise, try to get the tv to tune to a channel that only has static . Turn the brightness down and the sound up.. Free white noise..
