Hi! If I purchase the Universal Express Ticket it is my understanding that it is valid for one day and is good to ride each ride with an express line once. My question is can you use the express pass service in the park at the same time. For example could you enter the park in the morning and get a express pass from the machines for Men in Black so that you could ride it again if you wanted to. I know the park will be really busy so I'm wondering if we can utilize the express pass machines at the same time as using our purchased express passes.

I don't see why not.

The purchased express pass is not linked to your actual park ticket in any way. It is a seperate ticket that they show and stamp after you use the line.

You should be able to use the non-purchased express kiosks like any other park patron as well. (Although, I have never actually done this, so please dont' take it as absolute truth! :) )

Yeah, the purchased express tickets have nothing to do with your park entry ticket/pass. If I were you, I'd go to the park as soon as it opens, do as many of the popular rides as you can, and then use the express tickets later in the day once the crowds have build up. And at the same time you can also use your park ticket to get additional express passes at the machines.

We bought these tickets in April. The ride attendant only checked off the ride ONCE all day. (And we never tried to go back on that one anyway!) In practice, it was an all-day unlimited pass.

When we were there, the park wasn't terribly crowded. Maybe they're stricter at really busy times, I don't know.

I will be at Universal the first week of November and I'm not sure if we will need the express pass.

Where do you buy them? Are there machines in the park to buy them?

probably not. but to clarify, the EP is like the FP at WDW, they are free to all in the parks. the EP + is a booklet your can purchase that allows you one entry per attraction per park into the EP line.

When we were there, we got a card, not a booklet. Have they changed it?

It used to be a booklet. Now it's a card.
