I wasn't sure where to exactly post this..

But, i was wondering how the Disney Visa card works as far as earning reward points to use in WDW? How much do you have to spend to get points? And where can the points be used?

I am thinking of asking my mom to help get me a card, i have some credit issues in the past, so i know i won't get a card myself, but we are going to WDW this Nov, and then on the cruise next yr, so i think any points i can earn will be helpfull! They said they don't need any of my financial info, AS the second free cardholder, just my name..

As far as I know you can use your rewards in several locations around WDW. I have yet to use mine, but I'm going in Sept and will use them then. I know you can use your rewards towards your room or vacation package, park tickets, etc.

You get 1 reward dollar for every $100 you spend.

For more info try over at the Budget Board. I'd help, but I just got my Disney Visa last month. There are many over on the Budget Board that have had one for a long time and could probably help answer your questions.

Hi, There have been a few threads on this before...I will try to answer the best I can.

Disney Visa - you get 1% of purchases in rewards $. You transfer the rewards $ to a rewards card when you want to use them. This card can be used similar to a reloadable gift card. It does have an expiration date, and all $ left on the card as of that date will be lost. When I got my card it had an expiration of about 1 year later.

You must have 25 points to order your card. Give yourself time about 2+ weeks for it to arrive before you want to use it.

I used my rewards as my $200 down payment on my trip. I used the remainder of what I had in rewards points towards my final payment. Where you can use it outside of paying for your trip I am not sure, as I haven't gone to WDW with my card yet. : ) But I have $ still on it so I intend on using them for souviners.

Other benefits - If you pay for your vacation with your visa you get 6 months interest free. It starts once you pay any portion of your vacation - that is why I used rewards for the downpayment. So I would have 6 months interest free on the large part.

Bring your card to a special location in Epcot and get a free 5X7 picture. Also I think you get a % off in the Disney store at DTD.

I think that is it. I am very pleased with how it has worked for me. DH and I are disciplined and put everything on the card and just paid it off each month. I earned over $400 towards our trip.

I hope this helps - check out searching on Disney Visa.

We used our rewards last month in WDW EVERYWHERE!! We used them at the food courts, restaurants, shops in all the parks, the resort shop etc. It worked out really nice. We ordered the card about 3 weeks before our trip and it took 7 days to receive it. Don't lose the card, even if you have used all your rewards from it, because there is a charge to replace it.

wow.. thank you guys! I am going to chat with my mom tonight. I am trying to get her to agree to get me a card as a secondary cardholder, and then we will both have one. I asked the visa cs if this was ok, even if we have different last names (as i am married) , but like i said before, i have bad credit in my past, from being young and stupid, and i know i can't get it on my own. So, i figure this is the next best thing.

I used my disney dream reward dollars to pay for: Breakfast at Crystal Palace, Lunch at Kona, Breakfast at Kona and Dinner at Sci Fi!

I bought my annual passes today and "Disney dream reward dollars" *was* a payment option. You can use them most places in WDW I would imagine. They're accepted just like a Visa card.

One thing to note - we tried to use our Rewards Card in the gift shop at Rain Forest Cafe and they wouldn't accept it because Rain Forest does not belong to Disney, so if there's any question about whether it's a Disney owned property, be sure and ask first.

as stated above, its 1% so 1 point for every hundred, there is a max points you can earn per year, either 750 or 770, I cant recall. It seems like it is taken almost anywhere (the reward card that is), I used my at the Virgin superstore in DTD when I was there last year.
