Question re: AAA discount

I reserved two rooms at AKL. I wanted to use my AAA for the discount but was told no rooms were available with the AAA discount .

I read on this board that even if rooms are cancelled that had the AAA discount they are not released back or opened back up for other guests.

Is that true? Since the AAA discount is not currently available, I have no chance of getting it?

I can't say I agree with that. I have called and gotten a AAA room when one may not have been available before. That may be true of Disney discounts, but I can't believe that either, because I have booked rooms that have been added back to the group of discounts. Just keep trying, you might be amazed what you can get.

I just reserved a club level room for 2/4-2/7 with a AAA discount yesterday.

I asked the CM to verify if the room was available. After she confirmed, I asked if I could get the AAA discount and she said sure.

But that wasn't what I needed to know - the CM said all the AAA discounted rooms are booked. What I am unclear about is if someone cancels one of these AAA discounted rooms, do they release it back for someone else to book or not.

I just booked this afternoon and the way I understood the CM was that yes they would be opened back up. There were a few locations I was interested in and since my first couple of choices didn't have AAA available, he suggested that I could call back every week or so to check in case of cancellations.
