Question please we are a family of 4 and...

we are staying at the wl with the dining plan. the ages are me dh and kids dd10 and ds6 . This is our first trip and i was wondering how much spending money did you take for your trip? We will be there in july from the 15-22. We are driving from nc to orlando so dont include gas food along the way only disney expenses.

We are looking at about the least $1500. Is this to much or not enough??

That sounds like a lot of money. I went last May with my family of 5 for 9 nights, no dinning plan and spent around $1350. We had 4 TS meals and the rest counter service. (we had breakfast in the room) I don't remember saying no to often. We don't go crazy on souvies because we've been a few time. But, each kid definetly got at least 2-3 things. Anyway, I think you will have more than enough money - anything left over can go towards your next trip because you will wanna go back!!!!

How about bringing half cash/ and using your debit/credit card. At least you won't be traveling with all that cash, but still be able to use your card to purchase things..

We'll be there around your time July 12-23 at POR and July 23-27 at HRH. I would only bring about $500 cash and use the rest on a debit/credit card. I don't like to carry too much cash with us.

Yeah we dont plan on taking all that cash just to have it available. Since they are having so much trouble with debit thieves i am thinking about getting a visa from our credit union to put money onto so at least it wont be my actual account. Take in mind this is our first ever trip and i am not sure what we will all want to get and i want this to be a YES you can have it and just in case dh says we cant go again soon (hopefully he will get bit by the mickey bug) and we can go sooner than later. Thanks for the advice.

We went for 7 days w/our family of four last Oct. and we were also on the dining plan. We took $1000 spending money and spent it all, BUT we could've done w/less. Some of it we spent on OOP meals and the rest we bought souvenirs and gifts with. It was more than enough. I think we just spent it b/c we had it. We would rather travel with cash or travelers' checks b/c we keep track of what we are spending better that way.

OMG! Am I really cheap? I was thinking about $500 for all four of us for 9 days! We have the dining plan and the kids are really young (4 and 1 1/2) so I am not planning on buying much for them. I am figuring Mickey ears for all of us, a stuffed animal for each kid and maybe one other thing. DH and I are NOT shoppers and are not planning to buy shirts/other clothes. Just postcards, things for the kids, and the photopass CD. PLEASE, correct me if I am way off base, but I am thinking we can get out of this for less than $50/day with the things we are planning on (not) buying! I will say that we would have access to $ - both charging to the room or on our own CCs, but really didn't plan to buy all that much!

Am I nuts?

We took $75 for each day and that included video games, snacks not on the dining plan (love the pretzels in Germany!) and any other smaller things. I think we actually had money left over...shopping was minimal...we had plenty of other stuff to do! You will have lots of food from the dining plan and we shipped snack bars, dry cereal and stuff down before hand.

I think i want to have more than enough i have not been to wdw since i was 6 and i am not sure how much money we will need. I dont want to not have enough. I guess i could alot about 100 a day for things. Does this sound ok??

I think that at $100 a day with the four of you on the dining you'll be more than OK. Even if you end up buying breakfast out of pocket at a counter service and buy several souveniers.

Of course I could spend the lot in Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe at MK
