Question on title/ownership

I am currently listed as an associate on a contract that my parents have, which means I get the benefit of booking reservations without any of the responsibility of the MF, loan payments, etc.

Since my wife and I will probably use the points more than anyone else in the family, we would like to be added to the contract as owners. How would we go about doing this? I know one way is to purchase the contract. But, this is not feasible at this time. Could we just amend the title/deed to include myself and/or my wife as owners as well?

Yes, you can. My husband and I just did this to include our 2 adult children on the deed. Listing them as co-owners on the deed will give them the ability to obtain all DVC discounts - especially AP discounts! This will also simplify things for them when my husband and I are no longer around.

All we had to do was contact the title company which DVC uses (got the phone number from our DVC rep), fill out a form, and send a check for $337.17. Cammy Smith is the agent I spoke to at the title company and she told me that this is done all the time! It was a very easy process!

You might try contacting Magic Vacation Title at 407-488-1330. The Timeshare Store, Inc® uses them for majority of our Disney closings and they should be able to assist.

You can do it yourself for under $50 if it's a single contract. The amount of work involved is really fairly minimal. Neither option will be workable if there is a current mortgage.
