Question on split 5-5 with new card deal

Hi!

I have a question. Since you have to buy a minimum of 5-day tickets with the deal, and we are staying for 10 days, we were thinking of doing a split stay (5-5) in order to get the deal twice.

Question: Since the tickets are basically the same price whether you get 5 days or 10, I was thinking we would get 10 days of tickets with PH for the first reservation, and I would get another 7 days of tickets for the second 5 days. Can we just use the tickets that we purchased for the first 5 days stay, and keep the second set of tickets for a next trip, or do we need to use everything during this stay?

Hoping I am making sense... This is the only way that it is really worth it for us.

Thanks in advance!

If I understand you correctly, You need to purchase the non-expiry option on the second set of tickets ... this is not cheap ....

Can anyone confirm this??

If the tickets aren't used (like the 2nd set would be) they are still good tickets. A ticket only expires in 14 days from first use. If you don't use them, they are still there. I have 4 one day passes that we had to purchase in order to get a package (Free dining and the free $500 giftcard in May) I don't like that you can't tell by looking at them that they are valid tickets (years ago they were stamped with a date as used). I hope they are all still good since we will be using 3 in Feb!! You can get them removed from the key card but the first time during free dining, no one would do it. They just kept saying they couldn't. The trip in May I didn't have a problem doing so. Just the luck of the CM you get to remove the tickets. I would just purchase a 5 day on the second reservation, you can always add days when you need them. I wouldn't buy anymore than I had to now. I don't know if it's really worth it to put out all that money. We only had to get 1 day passes and that was a lot!

The other thing to note about using "old" tickets, is that if you use them to enter the park and then upgrade them, you get credit for the going rate for whatever days they were purchased for. For instance, I bought 1day passes in 2007 to get free dining, when I upgraded the tickets this year, I got credit for 2009 one day prices, not what I actually paid for the tickets. This only works if you use the ticket to enter the park and then upgrade.

That being said, I would still only purchase the minimum required days to qualify for the gift cards. You are still "tying up" your money for a period of time while you wait for your next trip, so why tie up any more than you have to. Unless it's going to be later this year, after the usual August price hike by Disney. Then you might just buy what you think you'll need now and get the lower price for all of the days needed for your next trip.

Takes a little of the sting out of purchasing tickets in advance.;)

Yes, I know about the difference in the price, 2 are from 2008 free dining and 2 from May when we got 2 free $500 giftcards (with value resort) and only a 1 day to purchase. If you only had to get 1 day passes it would be for sure better for us even though I already have 4 of them. Even if all 4 of us needed new aps, it would be even, but my son already has one so it will leave me with paying a little over 200 more and have my 4 one day passes as well as one 5 day. I don't know how many tickets I want to collect since these last 2 offers requried purchase of length of stay basically not just a 1 day per person. (4/7 and the free giftcard) I basically thought all the 1 days would be being applied to a new AP, but if we do this I just end up with more tickets that I'm now not sure if I'll use because of the way the packages are working now.

Oh, okay, I thought I needed to predict ahead of time how long I would be staying on my next trip. The minimum for the deal is 5 days of one day one park tickets. So I will go with that and extend and upgrade later if need be. Also good to know I don't have to get the no expiry option.

We are saving some money by doing this and staying 5 days at CBR and 5 days at YC. Great stuff, so happy!

We will get the dining plan (to save a bit on meals) and we will put the extras (tips, taxes, etc.) on the gift card. Will also use the gift cards to upgrade to park hoppers.

Thanks for the help!

We are a family of 6, currently booked in a delux room for 11 nites. I was going to rebook us in 2 standard rooms & break our trip in half like your wanting to do so we too could get 2 GC. The cs rep told me that disney wont allow that, not sure how they would really know if I did 2 completely seperate ressies in DH name & my name. Good luck

Has anyone been able to use CG code in WL ? I called a few times & was told it wasnt available there, they were all gone.

Not sure about the GC at WL, but I did want to say you should try to call back and change your ressies with a different CM. If you can do 4 - $200 deposits, then you might even book the other 2 rooms in the split stays, and then cancel your current ressie and get your initial deposit back. But honestly, I can't see why you can't change 1 ressie to be 1/2 your party for 5 nights, then book the next 3 rooms to finish out your split stay.
