I want to book just 1 way of my trip as the one back is a Sunday. Also, I know it will go lower than $64 for the way down, but I dont want to chance it. So I am going to book the $64 for my way down (8/29). When it drops lower, how can I get my money back? Do I get a credit? Do I cancel it online and then have $ sitting in a SW account to rebook right away? How do I handle this? I have seen DINGS for as low as $39 each way last year. So if it happens again, thats $25 difference, x 2 tickets. Also, if its 9:30pm CDT, what time is that EST? I want to wait and see what answers I get here first.. but I go to work at 4EST. Sorry to sound so darn confusing!

9:30 CST is 10:30 Eastern time.

You MAY or MAY not get a refund. SW's offical statement is that unless you purchase the fare "labled" refundable it's yours.....They will give you a credit for future flights. Folks on here have reported writing SW and getting the refund, no gurantees!

While you may see a $39 DING, there is a an equal chance you won't.....

I see someone already answered......Well, I think its GREAT if you get anything NEAR 64, right now we're paying 250 r/t from LI, NY, OUCH, last year it was much cheaper. I have learned that Sundays are NOT getting those Dings and of course thats the day we chose to fly, Oh Well, the other family tix are free flights.

:thumbsup2 I don't have experience in this by any means . . .but wanted to share my recent phone call to SWA.

We had $99/one way flights to Orlando in October. Today, the flight going DINGED for 64/one way . . .I called SWA and had them apply the 64 Ding Fare and I have a $70.02 credit for another flight to use by June 13, 2008.

I kept my 99/one way returning until something better comes along, but for now, our Round Trip Flights are $183.39 per person. Which compared to Delta (which we usually fly) is a real good price! I much rather have the $70.02 credit refunded to my CC, but, I'm thinking if flights get to be the $39/each way, I might have enough credit to bring the 2 kids along for nothing. :thumbsup2

Thanks. We are flying again in Dec with the kids this time so I will definitely use up the credits!

I just called SW since I had to get our RR # anyway. They said that it can all be done online and that they wont refund my CC but the money can be used on a future flight. Which is fine since we plan to travel again 3 months later.

OKay, I just looked, I found travel tools but how do I fix it to get the credit? Once I book my DING fare, is there somewhere it would be available to see?

Yes, I just booked a DING myself and it was easy to use the travel funds. After you've clicked on the DING link, selected your flight and entered everyone's names, at the end of the process when it's time to pay, there's a pay with travel funds button as opposed to pay by credit card. It'll ask you for the confirmation number and name of person on the original reservation's credit card, and you'll see how many $s are available to use.:wizard:

I got that, thanks.. but how do I get the lower fare online? Do I go into my flights and cancel it and then rebook and apply the funds thing?
