Question on Direct Purchase

We will be heading down to Disney World this weekend and have an appt to tour the DVC facility. If we were to make a purchase while there, are you able to use your discount right away? We are purchasing 9 day park hoppers and, if we purchase DVC, would be returning in less than a year for another week minimum. We are thinking that we could upgrade to APs, but only if we could utilize the discount.

Yes, you can use your blue card discounts immediately. We saved a lot on merchandise discounts after buying direct.

Tell your guide that you want to upgrade your tickets and ask how soon he/she can get you into the system so that can be done. You need to complete the upgrade no later than the end of the last day you use the original ticket.

Echoing the above - we signed up during our vacation last week and could immediately access the blue card on our phones for merch/food discounts and lounge access. We already had FL resident APs (so no discount there), but our guide did say all DVC discounts were effective immediately.
