Question on booking own accommodation

I have a question for all you experts out there on booking self-catering accommodation, ie a condo, apartment or villa. I'm planning a trip for next May, flying out on a Sunday or Monday and want to stay for 17 or 18 days (two weeks is just not enough!) Do villa owners require you to pay weekly from say, Sat to Sat? If this is the case, I'm worried I could end up paying over the top for part-used weeks. We could always book into a hotel for a couple of nights if required.
I welcome any advice on this subject as I want to make sure this won't be a problem before I book our flights.

Hi

We had a villa at Indian Creek this August and stayed for 17 days ( you're right two weeks is not enough!).We had absolutely no problem with this, nor with any of the properties we shortlisted before booking this one.

I think that with so many villas available out there, owners are more than happy to be flexible if it helps secure a booking.

Good luck!!

the villa I rent, I just quoted the dates I would be there ie we arrive on a thursday. They just quoted me a price for the days we are staying not in full weeks if that makes sense!.

Most villa companies ( all that I know of) will rent by the day (check in which ever day of the week you want, stay as many number of days as you want, although usually minimum 3 days).
Some owners may try to dovetail their bookings so they don't have any spare days, but you will find plenty of owners that will accommodate your dates. When I was renting mine out I never worried if there was a couple of days between one set of guests leaving and the next arriving.

Owners will always try to work with whoever wants to book their home .If that means a mid week start and odd days thats ok the odd days are usually done pro rata .

Absolutely agree - 2 weeks are never enough. We have booked a villa for 16 nights with no problems at all - just paid pro rata for the extra nights.

Agree with what everyone has said , the majority of villa owners I am sure will accomodate you.

It is always best booking as early as you possibly can though - particularly at peak times of the year.

Thanks everyone. You have put my mind at rest that we shouldn't have a problem on that score. I can now concentrate on booking the flights - the prices I've been quoted seem to be increasing each time I check, so I don't want to hang around.
