We are staying at WL and were going to get baby sitter for the kids and have a nice meal to celebrate our anniversay at Artist Point. Some of the reviews I've been reading about it though havn't been all that great. Should we look to go somewhere else for a nice dinner for 2? Some where at Cont maybe?

We don't really want to be too far away since the kids will just be with the sitter, but not sure if Artist Point will be all that great.

Thanks

I loved my Salmon meal-the specialty of the house. But my DH was less than thrilled with his beef(or was it buffalo?) meal. I find the menu rather limited-heavy on the meats. and I doubt we'll eat there again. Maybe try a restaurant at a nearby resort-Poly or Grand Floridian?

we have eaten at artist point several times and have always had a wonderful meal and great service.

We have been eating at Artist Point a few times a year since it has opened.

The food and service have always been outstanding. Our most recent trip was this past March.

Our buffalo was excellent..tender, delicious. The portebello mushroom soup..wow. The salad I had..apples and blue cheese also wow, and of course..the cobbler fantastic as always. The wines were matched perfectly.

When we have people visiting from out of state, we always make sure to take them to Artist Point for dinner. Our friends who live in Orlando..also love Artist Point.

Don't change your ressie...AP is one of the best restaurants on disney property!

I've never been to AP, so I can't help you there, but on my last trip we had a wonderful dinner at Citrico's. I think that would be a great choice for a special evening.

This is one of favs at WDW also. Our last visit was in February and my Salmon was excellent as usual. I just love their salmon here!

DH has tried different things and this trip he tried the Buffalo tenderlion also and wasn't too thrilled with it. I think it's kinda "gamey" so you really have to have a taste for it. He's had the veal before (i think it was that) which was very good.

There are several other restaurants to go for a romantic evening but they're all going to have a few "hit or miss" reviews, so I just say..stick with it:) Go for AP:tongue:

Where have you been reading dissappointing reviews on AP? I haven't seen any around here although I admit I don't read them all.

Artist Point has fast skyrocketed to the top of our list. In fact on our upcoming trip it will be included for the third time in a row (this year)! Unheard of with all of the choices out there.

Service is great and food wonderful...could there be more? I personally love the buffalo steak.

We love CG, FF & Jiko, as well...But AP is every bit as good as any of them.

We love AP, But my favortite is Cailf Grill at Contempory. You can take the boat over from WL. I think that AP is more relaxing. Check out the menus at allearsnet.com

We also love the Artist Point. Ahhh, the service, the food, the atmosphere... Sorry, I got lost for a moment. The lodge is a great place to relax after dinner too. Enjoy!!
:)

AP is a great restaurant. The salmon is best on property. I agree with a previous post that cal grill is just as good, but a lot noisier. AP is quiet and romantic. Also, the mushroom soup is out of this world!!

We also love AP. It's our favorite restaurant in WDW. My dh had the buffalo on our trip in August. He loved it. But, he does enjoy 'game' meats. Likes venison and duck and rabbit. I loved the beef I had. One of the nicest pieces of beef I've had in a long time. Everything was wonderful. Great service, nice view. It is not nearly as 'upscale' as California Grill but neither are we. We are looking forward to trying some of the Boardwalk eateries this coming August tho. But, will be going back to AP also.

I don't usually enjoy game meats but the buffalo steak is not gamey in any way, IMO. Just great!:)

Also, I agree with the difference characterization between the CG & AP, but I wouldn't call the differential "upscale" as much as trendy...But this is just my opinion.

To be sure, AP is quiet while CG is VERY noisy.

I agree...trendy is a much better word. I should have used that instead.

We just came back from WDW & had my birthday dinner with my parents at AP; we all enjoyed our meals very much! My dad had the beef tenderloin or filet (ate every morsel! didn't even share!), mom had the vegetarian butternut squash dish, I had the salmon, & my husband had the halibut - all wonderful! My parents & I had the smokey portobello mushroom soup - fantastic! As good as the cheddar cheese soup at Le Cellier! I also had a small frisee salad (I had ordered the chef's table); my husband had the venison spring rolls as an appetizer which were quite good. We all shared the wonderful berry cobbler for dessert! You won't be disappointed!

We've always had good meals there (with and without our kids). Use the Cub's Den if your kids are old enough - my kids love it and it's nearby.

loved ap, took dw there for birthday during april 03 trip, food was great, i had the salmon, dw had something else, i'd have to find the souvenir menu to state what, said menu had happy birthday with her name printed on it, i would imagine you would get n anniversary menu, i mentioned about her birthday when booking ps
salmon lived up to all everyone has said about it and they comped us the berry cobbler, their signature desert, which was so good we may trek over there from beach club some night just to have that desert
also agree with poster who pointed out the noise difference, love the food at california grill but quiet and intimate dining it is not
plane in the morning to the world:sunny:

We ate there this past Feb. I have to be honest and say that I thought that I was not going to enjoy my meal but I couldn't have been more wrong. We truly had an excellently prepared meal and great service.

Artist Point is fantastic. We just ate there last week. We put the kids in the Cub's Den...they loved it!

My dh and I both had the chef's selections (4 courses for $47 pp) I had the beef tenderloin and dh had the buffalo. Mine was excellent, and he loved his, but I tasted the buffalo and didn't care for it. I thought it was gamey, but I don't like that kind of thing anyway. The Smokey Portabello Mushroom soup is UNBELIEVEABLE!!! I asked for and received the recipe (not like I'll ever make it...very labor intensive!) My dh had the berry cobbler and I had the coffee two ways for dessert. It was just a fantastic meal and on our "to do" list each trip!

We've been to CG before, and although we liked it, AP is much more intimate, quiet, and we find it more relaxing.

Give it a try, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
