Am flying from small airport (Buffalo) to Orlando. I expect little crowds on a Sunday morning (non-holiday). Flying Southwest. How early should I arrive for 8:00 am flight?

Know this probably is in the wrong area, but looking for input.....

Emma I responded to you on the Transportation Board.:)

We always fly out of Buffalo. Lately all the flights are pretty much sold out and the extra security can be time consuming. Plan on getting there at least 1.5 hours before the flight departs. Remember, they are sometimes going through all luggage and they are also inspecting car trunks before allowing you to park. Better to err on the side of waiting in the airport than to miss a flight.:)

Hi.

I've been thinking about posting for a long time, and your question made me come out of my shell. My husband (DH) travels often. He says in general, the mid/size to small airports seem to take the longest for security, especially if they are checking cars. Most of the major airports have the system down pretty good, with the except of LAX which he hates. But his advice, when in doubt, call the airport and see what they recommend. If he isn't sure, he allows two hours and he hasn't missed a flight yet, but in some smaller airports he has come close.
