I added 100 points on at BLT (we have an Aug UY), but when I log onto the website, it shows that we have (only the BLT portion is shown, not our VWL points)

100 points remaining for 2009
0 points avail to bank for 2009

100 points remaining for 2010
0 points avail to bank for 2010

100 points remaining for 2011
100 points avail to bank for 2011

100 points remaining for 2012
100 points avail to bank for 2012

I don't understand why I have NO points available to bank for 2009 or 2010???

Please help! And, of course, MS is closed already. lol

Thanks,
Jenny

Instead of driving yourself nuts, just call MS in the morning. I'm sure someone will be able to straighten it out for you. Good luck!

We have added on 23 times and sometimes MS makes mistakes or doesn't complete the process correctly. A couple of times they had to get their IT people involved to fix our account. As PP, contact MS and see what they say.

Thanks guys, but I think I figured out at least why it isn't letting me bank 2009 points - I'm past the banking deadline. Which is really upsetting me because everyone I spoke to regarding adding on told me to bank the points when we contracted. Now I feel I've been duped a little because it doesn't look like I'll be able to use them at all.

Am I totally screwed here?

Hi
We just added 50 points on last week with a june use year,so we got 2009 points and called today to bank them, they needed a boss to ok it, because it was past banking window. There was no problem they went a head did it for us.

That might explain why it's not showing that your 2009 points are not bankable but it doesn't explain the 2010. I think something got mixed up when it was entered.

And - Disney makes exception to the banking rule for newly added on points. Call MS (first to figure out why neither 2009 nor 2010 are showing as bankable) and then tell them this is a new add on and you would like to bank the 2009 points. I had no problem doing this a couple of months ago for my April UY.

Nope, not at all. :goodvibes Yes, you are beyond the banking deadline for 2009, but since these are newly purchased points, DVC will allow you to bank them all in 2010. The only thing is that you cannot do it online (which is why it says none available to bank). You have to actually talk with MS directly--they will clearly see that these are newly purchased points and will bank them for you while on the phone. Easy peasy. :thumbsup2

It does actually... August use year points need to be banked by April 30th. It's May already!

It is May buy Aug 2010 UY points don't have to be banked until April 30th, 2011!!! So, for the OP, those should still be there and should still show that they are bankable. The UY hasn't even started yet.

Is that true for re-sale as well? We just closed escrow (new member) and there's 5 points left in my 2009 allotment, we have a June UY. When I mentioned the 5 points yesterday on the phone, the MS told me I couldn't bank them. I guess today would be the last day to bank (if at all).

I know there's that "once in a lifetime double forgiveness rule." I didn't want to accidentally use it on 5 points...Help ? :confused3

It usually does not apply to resales, direct purchases only.

I have heard of it happening once or twice but it's not usually done for resale. Might be worth another call.

You are correct... He should be able to bank the 2010 points. Strange though, the op's 2011 and 2012 points should not be able to bank yet. They should only be listed as available to borrow.

The website normally shows all upcoming years points as available to bank. Even if systems don't allow it they will be eligible if they haven't been banked or borrowed so it's showing you the status of being current for that year. However I had 13 months until I needed to bank my 2010 points and MS was asking me if I wanted to do so a couple of weeks ago so I don't know if there is a requirement to be in the UY.

Wouldn't that be great - you are able to bank your 2012 but MS can't hold a room for two minutes for you to make a reservation?

Those with an August Use Year actually need to bank by the end of March the following year. They cannot be banked in April, May, June or July and will expire after July 31.

In the early years of DVC, MS would not even allow members to bank direct purchase add-ons beyond the banking deadline but relaxed that several years ago for direct purchases. It can't hurt to ask, but MS has not been extending the banking deadline for resale purchases and I believe that includes the double secret/once in a lifetime exemption.

Oops  I called MS while I was out at lunch today before I saw your post. They put me on hold for 3 minutes and banked my 2009 5-pointer to 2010. Hope I didn't accidentally use my double/secret once in a lifetime exemption

As long as you pay attention to future deadlines, it won't matter. But, I hope they were just being generous and did not extend the one time courtesy.

Regardless, enjoy those points! :)

I wouldn't worry. As I mentioned I know they have done it for resale - and I know of one person who has done it more than once so I doubt it was the super duper everyone knows about once in a lifetime exemption. :goodvibes

I'd try not to count upon that anyway and stay within the banking periods. Congrats on your purchase!
